I heard that common fielders a like Ortiz and Thomas are prone to commit errors at first base. Is this correct ? I ask the question because common fielding at first base did not seem to matter in MLB the Show 19. In fact, Thomas defense was awesome for me at first base last year.

    Yes, like a super scoop.
You won't hear that 'scoop, there it is' commercial while they're in the field either 🤪

It seemed like they gave bad fielders an extra defensive penalty at first this year. Not getting that first step, no slick animations, and every time they field a grounder with a runner on first and you try to turn the DP, you have to hold your breath because those guys are likely to pull the fielder off the bag with their throw or just sail it into left center field.

Gotta differentiate the 90 fielding from the 50 fielding ratings somehow?

On the flip side, Freddie freeman is a pretty good fielder at 1sr base. I think he’s silver defense

Freeman is diamond fielder at first base. That’s why he gets great animations at this position.
