Roster control on trade

Hello all,

I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm trying to make a trade as follows:
I trade 3 players from my 40 man roster.
I receive back 2 players. 1 which is a player I'm fine with going on my 40 man. But the other player is a 17 year old A potential prospect which i don't want added to the 40 man due to the fact that he doesn't need to be on there because he won't be rule 5 eligible in the off season. Every time I execute the trade though, this 17 year old keeps getting auto added to the 40 man. I don't want this because if I want him dropped from 40 man, he needs to clear waivers first, which would risk me losing him. Does anyone know if there is a way I can control this so that he won't go on the 40 man after the trade executes?

Is your 40-man already full when making the trade? If not then try filling it out with players you don’t mind loosing or know won’t get claimed later on waivers. That way when you make the trade the 17yr old might not go automatically on the 40m or see if you can add over 40 say 42 or 43 players that way when you make the trade you stay at your 40 and the players you receive back will need to manually be placed on the 40 man. Hope this helps
