Best monitor for Ps5
-
Hey everyone, I know we have had a ton of monitor threads, I’ve even started one way back when and commented on a few others but that was for ps4, now that Ps5 is here I would like to ask about it.
What are some of the best monitors that will take advantage of everything the ps5 offers? What should I be looking for as far as stats? I’m guessing 4k resolution? HDR (I don’t even know what this is)? 60hz or 120hz refresh rate? HDMI 2.1 (again not sure what this does)? Anything else I need to look for to be sure I am maximizing the consoles abilities?
Some of the things that I know I am looking for are the size (looking for about a 27 inch monitor) and I know I need low input lag. I currently have a BenQ zowie and I believe it’s input lag is about 11 m/s so looking for something similar or even better. If anyone could help and suggest some monitors and why you would choose that monitor that would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone just suggests some of the things to look for in a monitor that would help as well, thanks. -
PS5 games will strive for 4K/60fps as the norm. There will be a few games that do 120fps but it won’t be a lot. Monitors with HDMI 2.1 are pretty nonexistent at this time. More will come in time. I recently picked up a 4K/60hz Samsung 28” monitor and it works great. I don’t think it’s worth spending a ton of money on a monitor that can do 120fps when there most likely won’t be that many games that can do that.

I love mine. Dell has it for around $429

If you already have a 144hz screen there is an adaptor on amazon that converts 1.4 ports to 2.0 or 2.1 and let’s you play in 120 frames on a PS5. There is very minimal games but MLB has always put effort into graphics more so than other games even when the PS4 came out this was one of the few sports games playing at 1080p and not 720p.
Who knows if they put the effort into frames but if they do the pitches will be incredibly clear coming at you.

Thanks for the replies, hobo Adam is the monitor you linked 4K resolution?

It's NOT HDR+.
It is 1920x1080 at 240mhz
1ms response time.
I got mine last May. I really enjoy it for PC and PS4/5 gaming. I use a second monitor while working from home that's also a Dell, but it's not a gaming monitor. It has higher resolution, but lower response time and refresh rate.

Update, I’ve done a little more research and it seems like hdmi 2.1 might be the most important thing to look for, as that allows for the potential of 4K resolution at 120 hz, even if most games cap at 4k and 60 hz. This would seem to be as future proof as you can be as it’s capabilities line up with the ps5s top end potential. However there does not seem to be a ton of monitors out there with hdmi 2.1 at this time? Saw several stories of several going to be released soon but not much currently. Also the ones I saw were 800-1000 dollars. Anyone know of any available now? Think they will be more affordable as more come out this year?

Problem with a 4k monitor right now is that refresh rate. They make 4k, but they cap at 60 or 120.
My gut tells me that your refresh rate will be more important for lag free gaming in the next two years than that 4k.
4k is good for a TV. Unless you have 1800 to drop on the extreme monitors right now of course.
Check out Tom's Hardware site. I think he has an article somewhere that talks about this debate.

I got a gaming monitor and 1
100-350 inch projector that runs in 4kI don’t find that the monitor gives me much of an advantage. Seems actually like the game was built with lag compensation in mind. I make many more mistakes on pitching on my monitor then when I’m pitching on my projector. Plus the ball comes in huge in the projector—so that is kind of an advantage.

just get a 1080p monitor with a 144hz refresh rate cause you’ll want to have that frame rate option for other games too. idk if the show will let you do more than 60fps even next gen i’m not sure. or you could get a 4k 60hz monitor but i’m staying away from 4k gaming now i think it needs to develop more. 1080p is still the best for gaming imo. i have an acer 27in 144hz monitor 1080p res looks amazing with my ps5 and i can get the high frame rates with games like cod and fortnite and hopefully 21
but that’s just me.

you’ll need a monitor with an hdmi 2.0 or higher for 144hz ps5 hdmi2.1 so it’ll work.
in a perfect world 1440p would be my go to set up but playstation doesn’t support 1440p. 1080p is just fine and with ps5ms power it makes it look like 1440 -
