Why can't you see your opponents logo sometimes?

Why does this happen? It's happened forever since PS4's first show game.
When you can't see their logo, does that mean they can't see yours either?

Maybe they don't have a logo? I know I don't. I just haven't bothered to make one, but I still see my opponent's logo fine.
