You used the French flag instead of the Dutch flag. The Dutch flag has red, white and blue horizontal banners from top to bottom. As a Dutch citizen I am slightly insulted that you didn't do a bit more research in such a simple fact.
French flag would have a thicker middle white section given the visible length of the image. It's very clearly is a dutch flag rotated. Especially given the context of other cards as reference.

Are you really gonna lecture me about sentiment that you are clueless about, given the fact you're not Dutch let alone European? We have history here, the flags mean something. To simply pass it off as a designer decision is even more insulting than it being an actual unfortunate mistake.

Again, I didn't mean to offend at all, I've revised here. was a complete mistake:

Well now you're just making assumptions which actually turn out to not be true. Granted, I wouldn't expect you to know anything about my family history.
Regardless, you're entitled to be upset about something and have your opinion. I just hope for your sake not everything makes you as defensive as this.

As a proud Puerto Rican and American I took it for granted that simply turning the flag 90 degrees to the right would work for all flags. Didn't realize it might be offensive to some or that it would simply not work for all. I was just trying to have some fun and design some potential cards. With that said, I don't want to offend anyone, so If there is a Dutch citizen who takes offense to the portrayal of his nations flag, I'm going to listen and address it. I'm going to create some more of these as I've been having a blast with them. Working on Freddie Freeman (USA), Francisco Lindor (Puerto Rico), Robinson Cano (Dominican Republic) and Francisco Cervelli (Italy). Let me know if there is anyone you think think I should design.

You did try to lecture me about the sentiment I hold in regard to our flag. The only assumption I made was that I don't think you're Dutch and so you wouldn't understand the sentiment. Was I wrong, are you in fact Dutch and do you therefore in fact understand the sentiment? Because if not, I had every right to be defensive towards your ignorant and most of all unnecessary comment.

I myself am not Dutch, no. The part you were mistaken about is that I'm British in Canada.
However, my fiance is Dutch. Both parents born in the Netherlands. I lived with them for a few years (in Canada) in a custom built house with 9 people, 3 generations and all of them are 100% Dutch. I'm VERY familiar with your culture, so please don't think I'm insensitive.
However, in the context of the above photos it was very clear what was being presented.
Be proud of your history. Don't ever lose it and make sure (if you ever move) that your family learns of their past.
Also, have a little more understanding for people who accidentally offend you, and perhaps let some things that aren't intended to upset slide.

This seems fitting given everything I said previously.Have a good one.

Flags that have nothing on them but solid colors always annoyed me. Put something on your dang flags people! Show some pride in something. Even if nothing ever happens there.

The picture lol, I'm so confused. My goal is not to be right, my goal is (or was) to tell you not to lecture me when it comes to stuff you do not understand. Which, despite your fiancee's parents being born in the Netherlands, you clearly did not by your remarks that "it's the Dutch flag just rotated sideways" which displayed a clear lack of sentiment/knowledge when it comes to our history. Thats not something I assume, that's something you've proven based on your words.
Anyways, I'm kinda done arguing with you. The arrogance with which you speak could make you Dutch that's for sure. But you're not. Case closed, you have a good one too.

Wow who would have thought arguing over the Dutch flag would have given me some insight as to why I argue so much and always think I am right. I’m 1/4 Dutch on my Mother’s side but do not have any knowledge of that part of my family tree. Other than making peach cobbler in a Dutch oven (I’m not even sure if that’s even a “Dutch thing”) I didn’t think I had type of culture from that part of my family. Now that I am enlightened that Dutch are known for “always being right” and for making a big stink out of everything. I can now tell my wife “ Honey it’s not my fault I’m Dutch and couldn’t help myself”. I appreciate learning yet another excuse to blame my bad behaivor on. Now I just need something to blame my bad spelling on.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not . Either way I just wanted to point out to @EvylShaun that I do not appreciate being lectured about my own heritage and culture. I think that's pretty self explaining and everyone would feel the same in my position, despite his fiancee's parents being Dutch.

As a Dutch citizen
Are you still living in NL, and if so, what area? I lived in Tilburg for 5 years, and then a few years ago moved back to Dortmund, Germany. I loved that you could find baseball fans in the Netherlands (unlike in Germany) and I played in an adult league one year in Eindhoven while I was there.
-
Either way this thread has grown very toxic, which was unnecessary in the first place. I noted that the flag used in the first picture was incorrect, which it was factually. There's no debate that represents the French flag. OP explained, edited it afterwards and now it's correct. Case closed. If you wanna blame me for pointing out this error and reacting sensitive to the matter, keep in mind that history can be sensitive and that things like these matter to those who have knowledge of it. Especially Americans would understand I assumed, since the flag is so holy to almost every American I've ever met. And I don't blame them, it represents a a lot of history and battles and pride. You wouldn't want your flag to be misused and neither do we.
The part where it got personal is where I got lectured about all this by some English Canadian. Let that sink in for a minute lol.

Yes sir, I lived in Tilburg as well for 6 years when I attended University. I still live in the area, but I'll be moving to the US once I get my Covid shots to live with my fiancee. I spend a lot of time in Eindhoven as well, great city. Awesome to meet someone who is familiar with the area!

Forgive me, I had no intention of upsetting you. I assumed we were having a healthy debate about the topic of flags, and for some reason you have taken this as a personal attack.
I don't agree with many of the things you have said, but I more so have no interest in continuing down this path.
