I feel ya this game is so frustrating I'm only average get to 600-700 just reward me when I get good contact game so different when ya the away team

I wouldn’t say the stadium bails you out (all the time) but in the event playing at the giants stadium and I’m early side of good with bellinger on a hanging cutter and he hits it 300 feet to right field with 119 power, I’m more likely to pick Shippet after that

There is a lot of problem with stadiums in this game. MLB stadiums with a lot of background assets (people, water effects) will lag, which affects hitting. Minor league parks don’t have as many assets to animate, so don’t have that issue, but when you add in Shippett’s park effects (warm climate, high elevation, very short fences) the problem goes to the other extreme and the game turns into slow pitch softball with home runs in the teens and hits in the twenties, and pitching just doesn’t matter. In that park. In that park, all you have to do is make contact, and the ball will go for extra bases, or more likely, over the fence. There has to be a middle ground somewhere. In the meantime, I’m tired of having to play almost all my away games at that POS stadium. I know bashing the ball is fun, but there’s more to baseball than hitting and I want to play a more realistic game.

I understand man. I’d love to see more hit types rather than 8 runs off 8 solo bombs. They should make hitting harder by reducing pci size but actually rewarding you when you hit it rather than being early and missing the pci and giving you a homer. I’d love to be able to play in Cincinnati in a competitive game but due to average internet and the problems stated above with mlb parks, I can’t really do that

We need more hit variety, better pitching all around, fix some base running animations, and fielding needs fixed on animations along with the circling the ball and not picking it up. Kinda played like an unfinished game at launch with the defense.

They don’t need to make hitting harder. They need to make pitching input relevant.

This years game was hard to play for long periods of time for me, not an issue I’ve experienced in years past. After three or four games at the most, I’m done, win or lose. After a game, I don’t want to jump right into another and grind my way up the rankings, because the game isn’t really all that captivating. The cards feel pretty generic to me, so there’s little interest in mixing up the team composition as in years past, just fill up with any juiced cards, they’ve all got well over 100 power and contact, the name and card art is pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things and swing away until the game decides it’s your turn to score. All the best games I play are against total noobs or terrible hitters, we usually end up having a relatively low scoring, closely contested game. When you have two skilled players facing off, the game is an absolute shitfest of non stop home runs and early swings being excessively rewarded. Pitching is completely broken and randomly rewards good input with a hanging meatball, while you can miss your release horrifically and wind up dotting a strike on the corner. It’s a stupid game that makes little sense and a major factor in all of this is that what’s happening in game fails to correlate with user input frequently.

Unsure. I keep checking back here for any news, hoping to see something that might relate to an overhaul in the gameplay, but nothing as yet. The problem is, I’ve only really played MLB the Show, with an occasional nostalgic foray back to GTA to look at my car collection, for the last year or two. If I quit MLB the Show, I probably quit gaming altogether.
That said, I’m 40 next year and maybe it’s more a sign that I’m just outgrowing gaming. Nothing else really appeals to me, I don’t like shooters, I don’t mind racing/driving games and I can appreciate a decent story based adventure game, but generally I find that games are a lot more shallow these days. Pretty visuals, but no depth, or full of bugs and glitches that need to be patched repeatedly, with varying degrees of success.
I’d love nothing more than to buy a PS5 and enjoy playing MLB ‘21 with vastly improved sound and graphics and more balanced, realistic gameplay than we’ve seen this year. I can’t guarantee that will be the case though, I didn’t like this years game very much at all, personally. It’s a tough call, I’ve barely touched my PS4 for a couple of months now, it’s just gathering dust and when I do turn it on and load up baseball, I usually turn it off again without playing a game. Meh.

Gotcha. I'm pretty disheartened with this game so I feel you 100%. I've played 5 total RS games since 1st week of November so that should say everything. I'll listen/watch whatever rollout/features they announce for '21 before even considering purchasing but will not hold my breath.
I implore you not to give up gaming though, it's not a bad hobby and much cheaper than having a car hobby (which is the equivalent of throwing thousands into a barrel of fire...not proud of this lol). If you're into racing games Gran Turismo Sport 17 still had some very nice DLC w/ car sets worth using & it's beautiful...F1 is stunning as well but they have the PCI vs Directional debate in those forums too...Directional being using a normal controller and PCI being using a steering wheel as controller. In any case, you have so many more games to fire up that PS4 for.

Oh.. this again.. crazy how majority of players batting averages, slugging percentages and OPS's have gone up from this year compared to last yet this game rewards people less than every other game that's ever existed...

As someone who bunts their fair amount, I don’t know why anyone would bunt or play small ball in that park, especially with Mantle. Guess it proves the point about baseball strategy.

How is it on me if my perfect input change up in the dirt hangs right across the middle? Or how is it on me when my opponent hits a ball a foot out of the strike zone with a forty degree launch angle over the fence for a a home run? That’s not on me, that’s on the physics engine.
Hitting is way overpowered in certain parks. Mitch, you’re a good hitter. Admitting that hitting and Shippett is op doesn’t take away from your skill. There’s definitely an issue. Otherwise we wouldn’t see so many top players with extremely high ERAs and double digit home run games. It’s not all “on me”

I agree in the variety point. I know that players must get mad at me because they'll get 8 hits off me in a 3 inning event game, while I go 3 for 12 with 3 bombs. I would be ok with more singles and doubles... If I could only hit...
