Most of my opponents seem to be throwing significantly faster than my pitchers. I don't mean that the pitch speeds as loaded into the physics engine are faster, just that it seems like my 102 mph fastball takes twice as long to get to the plate as my opponent's 102 mph fastball.

Is it like this for everyone, or does my opponent actually have longer to decide?

It occurred to me recently that the pitches might manifest on my screen as faster due to the fact that I have very fast internet, and that perhaps others with slower internet process the pitches slower, resulting in the unintended benefit of more time to react.

The pitches always look slower in the game when you're pitching opposed to hitting. It's like that for everyone.

There is just a natural lag when you are pitching, likely to allow what actually happens in game to catch up to the server/connection with your opponent. ITs been this way for years. 102 for everyone. on your opponent sees the same pitch speeds when hitting as you do

they adjust it to be proportional. Ofc Walter Johnson didn't throw 102 he probably could hit 90. But a 90mph pitch in 1910 was the fastest pitch of the day. Adjust that to today he was prime Chapman as a starter.

No one knows now how fast Johnson actually threw. The statistics that people cite are that in 1917, they measured him at 91.something mph. At that time, they measured it passing through a device instead of at a point out of his hand. He also had his fastball measured against a motorcycle, and it was said to be 99.something mph. They didn't have accurate radar guns that could measure from release point like they do today. So I agree with you that it's best to look at it as comparisons vs their peers

exactly. If ty cobb said that it was the fastest pitch he had ever seen, I'm gonna assume it was fast.

SDS intentionally slows down the pitching process after you make your pitching input. This slowdown allows the server to process your input to accurately place the pitch (or ram it right down the dlck).

This is an attempt to make sure the batter sees the pitch come in without any lag or teleporting.

It does happen to both players while they're pitching, and it happens after every pitch.
