SDS gets dragged on here a lot. There are times it’s frustrating. There are issues that linger for far too long. And, in my eyes, the game is not fun to play online.
BUT, this is the most fun I’ve had playing The Show and the latest in the year I’ve stayed engaged. As a mostly offline player, the content has been so freaking good. I’ve got more 99s than I know what to do with. Everyone’s got different favorite cards. I’ve got more stubs than I know how to spend. And, despite not having tons of game mode variety offline, there have been enough challenges and lineup configurations to try that I’ve still had fun.
There are improvements to be made for sure, but I think this was/is a fantastic game and want to tip my cap to the content team.

With all due respect, but most people play this game online and that's where the complaints come from. Offline it works fine and can be enjoyable for sure. Online is a total different ballgame though (pun intended).

and that is what he is statement, MLB the Show 20 for Offline players has been the best game so far. of course online, mmmmmmm. gameplay 404.

i do good to finish all the offline content id never have time to play online, i got very few games, but i enjoy the game a lot... except headliner packs... F headliner packs.

I feel similarly in that it’s been great, but only because I’m a rookie (first year playing this game) and don’t have a frame of reference to compare. While I enjoy the game. I’ve improved enough in online play to where I’m finally wondering, “wait, how come that was a pop up when I had the same input on the last one that was a homer.” If I was even better at this game where I was competitive in RS and BR, then it would be very different, so I can most certainly empathize with those players here who have more at stake (i.e. a WS reward, etc) who are frustrated.

Content wise, this game is far and away the best ever. Unfortunately, online play is my favorite part of this game and this year's gameplay is competing with 18 for the worst. Playing the computer over and over again is boring. I would probably love showdown and moments if they played honestly. I feel like they are just meant to frustrate you. If they played their normal difficulty without the sliders being screwed up, they would be a lot of fun.

Be careful. Someone might say thanks Ramone or call you and SDS employee for saying this. In a seriousness though. SDS does a fantastic job with content and offline play. The only complaint I have about content is the waitlists on million stub cards. People have valid complaints about online play though. Its in a bad state at the moment, and has been for most of the year, especially with pitching. I have plenty of disagreements with the weirdos that think high rated finest and future stars are “disrespectful” to legends like Babe and Griffey, but when it comes to online gameplay I tend to keep my mouth shut because I don’t have anything else to add to what had already been said

All the content and variety of game modes etc. are just lipstick on a pig. None of it matters if the core gameplay, the most integral part of a sports title, just isn't good at all

Game was deleted this morning and can't see myself purchasing another for many years if ever.
I don't think the praise for releasing new numbers on cards is warranted. It seems to me that should be a given like the most basic thing they should be doing year in year out.
Offline is great the very first time you pick the game up then it's never touched with regards to the RTTS.
I know there is gameplay issues online but the game was still somewhat fun. The thing that made me delete was getting matched up my last 6 or so game with people from Tokyo to LA and having to deal with insane lag it's just not worth it.
I am from Scotland so yeah fun times.....

Whenever a claim includes the qualifier ‘most people’ it needs to be backed up by numbers, otherwise there’s a risk that it will be interpreted as projecting one’s own experience as representative of the majority. Has SDS released numbers for this year? I’d really like to know if DD has overthrown RTTS as the go-to mode for casual players.

I think the fact that they have an entire live team on their payroll for DD exclusively speaks volumes.

This is a very astute and mature take for a first year player. I can tell you I’ve played DD heavily for four or five years and I feel as though it’s near impossible to improve. Not because I’ve hit my ceiling in terms of skill, but because the design of the game prevents you from learning by understanding. If you clearly understand the path to success, you can see what you’re doing wrong and take preventative measures, however, this game frequently makes no sense when played online and it’s tough to improve in that context.

Are u trying to say my Lamborghini with a Toyota Camry engine is flawed??

I actually think online gameplay is the best it’s been in my 3 years of DD. Hitting feels generally rewarding to good input. Fielding is almost flawless. Pitching has a lot of issues, but I’m confident they can be fixed next year. And like you said, the content has been amazing.
