PS4/PS5 for 2021 DD
-
I have really been wondering about this as well. Neither SDS nor Sony has confirmed a release date for MLB 21 The Show, nor have they confirmed which platform(s) it will be released on.
I know they have been talking about "cross-platform" compatibility, but I am really curious to see if that works for DD.
Or - will we have different "leagues" to support:
PS4
PS5
XBOX
PC???I'd hate to think how buggy the interface will be initially if they allow PS4 players to play PC players in a RS, Battle Royale or Events Game.

So for tech guys out there, wouldn't you have to lower the performance to the lowest common denominator? I have an original ps4, if I'm going to play against someone who's running a ps5.. his visuals may be better, but wouldn't the guts of the game run at my speed? Or will this depend on who's hosting? Big disadvantage for anyone not on a next gen system?

I don't think they'll be able to do cross platform play online.
Game may run different in each console.

I hope at least when they release the PS5 version, they will sell it as a dual "PS4/PS5" package like EA is doing with FIFA. That would allow us to continue playing the PS4 version until we are able to buy a PS5. I'm also figuring in the expense of buying a new OLED TV because to take advantage of the PS5 you really need a HDMI 2.1 capable TV with low input lag...

Make sure to clear panel noise daily on OLED, otherwise you will get burn in from your system. Had it happen to my 65" LG, thankfully it was covered by the extended warranty otherwise it'd have been $2k to replace.

Keep in mind this is what happened with FIFA but it is a blue print
Last Gen upgrade - meaning PS3 to PS4
FIFA did not allow you to transfer create a player and Franchise (due to the file differences)
But FUT did transfer, since it was entirely online. The markets were intergrated, meaning PS3 and PS4 were one market.
Having separate markets would result in sky high prices (think Madden on PC) in the next gen market due to few people being early adopters of the next gen systems.Gameplay might be tricky...Any next gen only features might not be available online to allow for easier matchmaking.
Since we know nothing on Next gen improvements this is purely speculation.
You will still have improved graphics but frame rates might be wonky to allow for the slower PS4 players, again pure speculation. In the end, marketwise I expect integrated markets amongst game system manufactures at least.
Would we have a "global market" meaning one market for all platforms? who knows. But the lack of any info will not hurt sales. If you did not get a PS5 as a preorder, you will probably have to wait until 2021 to get your hands on one.

Do we even have ps5 confirmed yet?
Where have you been?
I think he means the PS5 version of the show. But either way I’d imagine yes they’d probably make a PS5 version and a PS4 version

That must be why SDS hasn't released any info on MLB 21. They probably can't figure out how the [censored] they are gonna have universal online gameplay with all these new systems. If they release it on PC, forget about. SDS will never be able to stop the hackers. You will have aim bots, fielders that will jump 1000x ft to rob homeruns and pitchers throwing 1000000000000000x mph. I hope it's not release on PC or SDS will have major problems that they won't be able to fix.
-
Also hope not released on PC if cross platform. PS4 only has like 60Hz refresh rate and PC can have over double that which makes it easier to read pitch.
