Game is not fun anymore

Title is accurate. There have been so many days this year where I’ve been off work and had nothing planned, so I’ve settled down to grind RS in MLB the Show for the day. Almost without exception, after a game or maybe two, I’ve completely had enough and can’t stand to continue.
That’s the biggest confirmation that the gameplay this year is not engaging enough. There are far too many home runs, which makes every game feel very similar. Yes, we do have other types of hits, the old double down the line that just stays fair, then the outfielder gets it from the corner and does that crow hop animation before throwing to second, where the second baseman gets pulled away from the base so they’re safe. I see that quite a bit, yeah.
The one where the third baseman boots the ball, but blocks it with his body then recovers to make the out in time at first base happens frequently also. But it all feels scripted, repetitive and not at all spontaneous this year. It’s boring.I enjoy the game, but am with you 100% on just too many homers. I can’t tell you how many games I have lost where I give up 3-4 hits, and all are home runs..... I know the game has changed, but they have taken it to absurdity

I've started a NG+ in the Witcher 3, since Cyperpunk got delayed again. I wouldn't say I forgot how great it was and still is to this day (game dates from 2015), but I've been having just a much fun with it as I did the first time.

I had a rough night last night, played a lot of games and felt disengaged in most of them due to things not going my way. I should’ve stop playing tho. I lost/quit so many games last night

I agree 100%. The gameplay took a HUGE step back from MLB 19. I know 19 had line-outs, but contact hitters were usable. This year, if you do not have over 80 power you are likely to be out. I played a game the other day, my opponent had 0 baserunners through 6 innings, and in the 7th, I was pitching with 99 Giolito. I had a perfect release on a circle changeup and he hung it over the plate and he hit a solo homer. I actually only had 2 runs because I was making good timing outs all game. Entering the top of the 9th, i was up 2-1, my opponent who has struck out 15 times this game, gets a bunt single, my infield was playing in and J-Ram decided that instead of charging the ball on a bunt, he will walk to it, of course once your opponent gets something cheesy it starts screwing you. I had a only thrown like 5 pitches with Fingers and he was wild. I walked the next batter. He had 99 Trout up, I brought it Crochet. Had him down to 2 strikes after two dot pitches, the game decided another Good timing released 4-seamer down the middle was the option and he it a 3 run homer, in the bottom of the 9th, I made three good-good outs. I lost 4-2. In MLB 19 I was a top 200 player with close to 1000 hours played. I'm at 560 hours this year, I just cant play that much. Its not fun to play a lot of games.
I really miss the pre-release gameplay, it was legit the best feeling mlb game i have ever played. They released a hitting patch on day one, ruined it for the year.

I was being thrown a no-no last night. No hits through 7 innings, then hit a solo HR with Griffey Jr to tie it and then another one bottom of the 9th to win it with Yordan Alvarez pinch hitting for my pitcher.
I had good PCI placement on both hits but I guess my opponent knew something was up, I couldn’t get on base all game regardless of good timing and “decent” pci placement... I got 2 hits all game and still beat him

It’s boring. How about the sequence when you go into the bottom of the 9th with a 1 run lead and you feel everything falling apart prior to your first pitch? Very late bloop single, Blocked grounder by 3rd basemen that could've been a DP but instead both runners are now on, your opponent now doesn't swing at anything & here comes the meatball, Game over.

Sounds like my last game and half of the others. The stupid thing is that I can normally tell within 3 innings how it’s gonna go, win 5-0 or lose 4-1 while only giving up 3 hits.... and that’s bc I bean his [censored] after his 17 strikeout self watches a wall scraper bc he picked Coors and it forced another meat ball to make it 4-1. Not to mention the 10 warning track balls I’ve hit. I know as soon as I start getting warning track shots with 110 power guys over and over, that I’m gonna lose.
-
i was winning 4-2 last night in the bottom of the ninth. I walk his first batter then he gets a double down the line and has guys on 2nd and third with 2 outs. His Hanley hits a grounder and for some stupid reason i threw it to second instead of first. So instead of game ending in win for me its now 4-3 and i dont need to tell you what his next batter did. I was so depressed I shut the game off and couldnt even turn anything else on. just went to bed

This is getting ridiculous. I just played 9 innings and the guy beat me 5-0 despite almost every batter putting a ball in play with at least good timing and the ball was right in the centre pci. He hit a 2 run homer with Walter Johnson on an early swing, and I hit a a ball middle up in the pci with tatis and it was a flyout. Almost all of his hits were weak little bloopers and he managed to score 5 runs doing that, but all my contact was good timing right in the pci and I just got robbed on every single hit. The input is not matching output at all. Just ridiculous.
-
yea i hate the PCI. Like you gave me this circle to target the ball in. Why do we not get hits if the [censored] ball is any where in that circle. Why does it have to be dead center. This targeting system [censored] sux. One game your smacking the ball around and the next game its Swiss cheese bats and 8 mile high flouts with the same PCI placements

MLB the Show (Home Run Derby) 20.
Seriously, though: think of how arcade-like the game has become. They add sinkers to pitchers just to make them usable. They make stats for player cards that are average in real life just to throw a bunch of players into the game.
This year's game, for me, is almost as bad as MLB the Show 18. The content, although arcade-like, was new and different. But there is no incentive to play right now. Why would I spend all this time grinding for WS, or completing the Extreme series, for example, when I could spend 45 minutes grinding easy moments to get absolutely over powered cards like Arozerana (probably misspelled) and Seager?
In the long run, the content has proven to make the game less exciting.
The game play is just a disaster, as well. With all the overpowered cards, every game has become home run or bust.
Maybe my expectations are too high--maybe I expect more of a simulation; but I really do think they need to make it VERY difficult to obtain high-level cards. They need to make pitching more dominant, and more realistic--stop giving sinkers to guys who threw maybe 2 of them in a season just to accommodate the meta of the broken game. Make the game more about baseball--the actual game of baseball--and not about seeing who can hit the most home runs with a god-squad of guys in Shippett stadium.
-
I dont want to defend the game but a lot of players have high power attributes. What else can you expect from a baseball game allowing lineups with every players having more than 100 power even 125 power. Homeruns are inevitable.

Getting the ball in play is useless in this game. Hitting homeruns is all that matter. I played an opponent the other day : 4 hits, 4 homeruns. Thats saying a lot about the current state of the game.

I'm still having fun with it. Have a team full of cards I like, and am about to get Morgan, Mondesi, Ramirez, Arozorena, and Griffey to add to the squad. Plus we have Finest coming out tomorrow.

Perfect example again. Playing a game And i get 9 hits, only one run, But he had 4 hits and 3 home runs. ( I don’t look at PCI much but went and checked after countless good good fly outs and I had much better contact on all balls but one we hit, he had a perfect homer with Seager when I selected the wrong pitch and he crushed it , I thought I selected a sinker but i guess I hit curve ).
I knew all game this was going to happen, , that’s what kills me. You know the cards are stacked against you from the get go.
-
Just played another one, had a ton of good good, or perfect perfect hits and most of them didn't drop, I hit 3 homers (all perfect perfects) and was leading 3-4 in the bottom of the ninth and he hit a homer on an early swing in the bottom of the ninth on a 100 mph fastball below the zone, but of course it's a no doubt bomb. Hitting and pitching is seriously broken right now, I cannot win two games in a row despite how good my hitting or pitching is because [censored] like this always happens, they get ridiculous hits to drop that are very late or very early and not remotely in the centre of the pci, and I'm all over the ball and nothing goes my way. The game is so incredibly frustrating because it's not even about having good input anymore.
-
I just get frustrated with the early/late being hits or HR's, will good/PP go for nothing. Believe me the early/late has helped me as well.

I agree, when I see a certain animation such as those I feel like I already know the outcome
