Does SDS watch baseball??

Fairbanks' avg speeds on his FB and slider are what he has on his card for the 2020 season. He probably has outlier on his fastball due to his playoffs. Check out baseball savant.
I would be surprised if I had outlier with only 94 velo. Most players with outlier if I’m not mistaken already have 99 velo.

I see his velo at 96 on his card.. but your point is valid..

Mookie Betts has 62 speed. He looked like the fastest player on the field throughout the playoffs.
If he isn't at least 80, they don't watch baseball. They literally might grab speed ratings straight from this list https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/sprint_speed_leaderboard
I agree Mookie shouldn’t have 62 speed, probably somewhere in the 74-75 range, but he shouldn’t have 80 speed when he is the 72nd fastest player in baseballAssuming he is the 72nd fastest player in baseball that puts him in the top 10% of players in the MLB I think that deserves higher than a 74-75 speed rating

I was referring to the velocity attribute not the speed of his fastball which is 96

But you got to think though that even if he is in the top 10% of fast runners in baseball, it’s safe to assume that the bottom 10% is the slowest of the slow(Miggy, Pujols, Yadi, Pitchers). The middle 80% run at about the same speed. They still are professional athletes after all. Being top 10% doesn’t mean you are head and shoulders faster than anyone in the middle.

No I agree with you he should not be head and shoulders above the middle guys. However, him being in the top 10% I feel like that definitely warrants an 80+ speed rating.

If he isn't at least 80, they don't watch baseball.ive been saying this since the first game. and all people do is bash me for it. saying his speed in game has nothing to do with IRL. saying stuff like hes the 70th fastest player in baseball or some [censored] like that

If those bottom 10% examples have speed ratings of 0 or under 10, then the top 10% should be over 80 at least. The middle 80% would all fall between 10 and 80.

I dont know i guess im different because i dont like the bottom 10% having below say 25 speed. I know some dudes are as slow as a turtle in peanut butter but they are professional athletes. Like my Grandal has 7 speed, wtf. Lt. Dan can run faster than that

There is no way that Fairbanks should only have 94 velo. My guy was pumping 100 MPH fastballs on a regular basis this postseason. Maybe they gave him outlier.
They must agree with you because they updated the card to 99 velo!

Looks good enough for me to start vs. RHP. Disappointed they bumped his speed down to 92 though. He stole 60 bases that year.
123/107 vs. RHP
84/67 vs. LHP
92 speed/99 steal
92 fld/72 arm/84 acc/85 reac
110 vis/125 disc & clutchAlso, they didn't change Mookies speed and I'm disappointed.

Nice thanks man. That made me sell Honus. I almost sold him for 330k but settled for 280k. Seager and Morgan will replace him

Regardless of the stats they put on any cards, I think we can assume that SDS do not, in fact, watch much baseball. Actually - Maybe they watch the highlights section where they show all the home runs and botched plays in a condensed VT.
Well if they have families, and a full time job that probably eats up 10+ of their hours per day, then something’s gotta give.
But I’m sure many of the team do somehow find time to watch real games, both on screen and in person, and also spend time playing the game they work hard to create for the world to play, despite numerous claims here that they mustn’t.

I agree Mookie shouldn’t have 62 speed, probably somewhere in the 74-75 range, but he shouldn’t have 80 speed when he is the 72nd fastest player in baseballI’ve seen this list before and compared his speed to others in the game who are close to him on this list and found that his speed rating is pretty accurate based on this. I think they should jack up his steal and br aggressiveness to 99 and I’m not sure if there is a stealing quirk but if there is give him that. Speed is what it is but he clearly knows how to steal bases and advance. He has to be about the best base runner in the game.
Correct. baserunning aggresiveness is what needs to be updated to 95+
THIS!
Breaking for home, in the World Series, on a cleanly fielded grounder to 1B..... is the epitome of base running aggressiveness.

I mean, it was sarcasm, but if they spend so much time at work making a baseball simulation, why is gameplay taking retrograde steps and becoming less realistic and true to the sport it represents and more like an arcade game? You’d think with all that experience, you wouldn’t see the same bugs pop up year after year (catcher throw meter not popping up, outfielders not making plays near walls, that kind of thing) or unbalanced gameplay that heavily favours hitting or pitching, yet here we are.
