McNamara not using a defensive replacement at 1B. But to your question, not using Britton was worse from the standpoint that going to Anderson has been their MO and he's been lights out all season. Sure we can second guess tonight, but more and more the thought is to pull the starter for your best reliever in the toughest situations.
Yeah but Anderson has been getting Rocked by the Dodgers.
Even Roberts, who is a worse manager, had the wherewithal not to go to Kenley in the ninth.
Both closers were shaky, but post season Anderson was nothing like regular season Anderson.Looks like the better manager won tonight

One good night doesnt make him a better manager.
Congrats to the Dodgers for winning, but only a blind a$$ fan would suggest Roberts is better than Cash.
Yeah Roberts moves won you the game tonight, but how many titles did his moves cost you in the past?
2 or 3 ?
Pitching Kershaw on short rest
Leaving Kershaw in too long
Over using Kenley so much that he has never been the same
Dude enjoy the title, but put the pom poms down. -

BTW, Even if McNamara had subbed in Stapleton for Buckner, the game was tied at the time. So it would have gone to the 11th.
True. I read Mac wanted Buckner to be on the field to celebrate, but if the game was tied he put him out there too soon.

The BoSox were up 2 heading into the bottom of the 10th. The late, great Dave Henderson hit an Hr off of Rick Aguilera.
The Sox closer Calvin Schiraldi got 2 quick outs (Backman and Hernandez). The Sox were one out away from their 1st title since 1918. Then it happened....
Gary Carter Single
Kevin Mitchell Single
Ray Knight gets another hit, scoring Carter, Mitchell to 3rd.
Bob Stanley relieves Schiraldi.
Now comes the stuff everyone remembers....
Mookie Wilson is up.
Passed ball, Mitchell scores the tying run, Knight advances to 2nd.
After a few foul balls. In the words of the immortal Vin Scully...
"A little roller up along first, behind the bag!!! It gets Bill Buckner, here comes Knight and the Mets win it!!!"I was a kid when it happened and I must have seen the game a couple hundred times since then. Maybe that is why I remember it in so much detail.
Everyone likes to blame Buckner when it was Schiraldi and Stanley that cost the Sox the 86 title.

Dude enjoy the title, but put the pom poms down.did you exclude the title that kershaw blew with the astros knowing every pitch coming? oh you forgot? so that leaves him to this year where he MADE up for his past mistakes... and managed his [censored] OFF this post season and we got over the hump.... just give credit when its due... and all i said was "looks like the better manager won tonight" so relax.........

Both closers were shaky, but post season Anderson was nothing like regular season Anderson.Anderson had nothing left in the postseason and Snell was dealing. Even an anylitics guy like Cash has to has to realize Betts is not the traditional righty vs lefty. Snell has to stay in the game. He had thrown 75 pitches and it's not like the Barnes hit was crushed. Snell handled it alot better than I would have.

Hi I'm Grady Little and I approve this message!

Lol yea I would have said F off bro and not left the mound

This thread got me thinking...serious question here. When the Yankees were the Yankees in the early 2000s did Yankees fans blame Torre after every loss? Did he make great moves or did he just hand the ball to rivera and he was a genius? Did everyone blame Torre for a the Luis Gonzalez walk off or whatever happened in the previous innings?
I don’t know. I was only a passive fan then.
