Alternatives to Chipper
-
I thought we could use another Chipper thread, so...
For those of you that have decided not to go for him, who are/will you be using?
Possible alternatives include Ramirez, Matthews, Pujols, Wagner (already using Tatis at SS), Donaldson, Foxx, Sheffield, Brett. I'm hoping to see an MVP Brooks Robinson card or a 99 Arenado, but not holding my breath.
I've been using George Brett for quite a while with success. I got my buy order in around #45, so I think I have time to change my mind if convinced to.
Current lineup:
LF Trout
CF Mantle
1B Gehrig
SS Tatis
RF Walker
C Cap
3B Brett
2B Robinson -
Currently I am using 98 Mondesi there, I was planning on putting Mondesi on second and removing Alomar, but now I can keep both in.
-
I know his swing is great and he’s a switch hitter but he’s still kinda underwhelming for 1 million stubs.
-
I’ve been using Sheffield at 3B to try and get through his prestige stats before 2021. The correct answer is probably 96 Chipper, lol. TN Travis Shaw smashes and plays solid defense as well.

Awards Evan Longoria
I have raked with all his cards
-
MVPujols, everybody sleeping on him
-
Brett is a great budget option. I have POTM Jram there until my Chipper order goes through in 2021.
-
I was using bo bichette but now I have Jose Ramirez

While Pujols has a good swing, he kind of blocks the up and in zone with his stance. It may be a no-no for some people.

Theres only one real option and it's Prime Panda Sandoval (he crushes everything)
Ok theres others i just really like him this year.

There will so many people that will suggest Sheffield and not Castellanos when they are almost identical in every important attribute except vision (discipline doesn’t matter unless you are a compulsive check swinger). I like Castellanos a lot
-
CAP at 3B with Chipper's swing....much cheaper : )
-
Mark Cahna. Topps card I think. Absolute beast.

I use him at 3rd. Same hitting, better defense
-
97 MVP Kris Bryant.

Looks like y'all are missing a great hitting switch hitting 3rd baseman in Panda. Only reason I can think of why he is a 95 is because his speed is 40. He really rakes for me. Plays Gold D at 3B also.
