So here is an interesting little nugget, Freddie Freeman is one of the hardest people to defend because of his ability hit the pitch that is delivered to him i.e. if it’s a fastball down and in he’ll line it to right field or if it’s up and away he’ll line it down the left field line. What is most interesting is the fact that no other hitter is shifted on more. It’s not even close which is very strange because of his innate ability to hit a ball just about anywhere on the field. What’s even funnier is he destroys the shift and yet they still continue to implement it on him. Another fun factoid, the team that began the trend of shifts on Freddie Freeman was none other than the Phillies. And who was their manager at that time? None other than Gabe Kapler. Literally the worst manager baseball. So Freddy can thank that clown for basically put him into the hall of fame provided he doesn’t fall off a cliff over the next 7-9 years he has left for his career.

But this post is exactly the reason why I didn’t think he would do well in the HRD last year, and why I was right. He is too pure of a hitter and his home runs are line drives that went rogue.

Yeah, I don't think line drive hitters fit in the HRD very well. Chipper never won one either(6 hr in 3 tries lol). You want guys that are focused on launch angle with indiscriminate power. Ryan Howard comes to mind as like the prototypical HRD winner.

I don’t know, Acuna jr had arguably the most entertaining HRD last year when he was launching 450 ft bombs to right field. I remember the commentators saying they had never seen anything like it because he was hitting them to the off field with ease. It was quite a site to behold

Also his LS card has 60 contact and 50 power vs lefties. I think that should be raised just a little bit to like 80 and 70 or something. 60 contact is straight disrespect

I dont think it is disrespect. I think it is the fact that he is slashing 245/355/358, yes slugging is only 3 points higher than OB. With 1 HR and 3 doubles in 53 AB this year. Wasnt good last year either. Now back in 2018 he hit lefties even better than righties.

I dont think it is disrespect. I think it is the fact that he is slashing 245/355/358, yes slugging is only 3 points higher than OB. With 1 HR and 3 doubles in 53 AB this year. Wasnt good last year either. Now back in 2018 he hit lefties even better than righties.
Yeah now that I'm thinking about it and I see his triple slash, maybe 50-60 contact and power is fair. I'm just a big braves fan and I want his LS card to be usable for a trash player like me, cuz there's no way I'll get his MVP or POTM card

I graduated with Jeff Francouer, Matt Olson also went to my high school (just about 8 years later lol)

Agree Freddie is a monster, Disagree Gabe is the worst manager, He's flawed as hell but he's not total trash.
