DD for 2020 looks awesome

The content was enough to finally push me into preordering.
My only complaint is that inning bosses that have prestige missions that are online only. -

Agreed. I would not attempt them for players, But if there is, for example, a Pujols inning boss then that is one I would have liked to attempt.
Also they just would need to be on your squad to earn the stats. Keep them there long enough then it would still get done, probably.

I agree, I don't see there being many if any card that will make me buy PS Plus to get a small bump.

Mickey Mantle on day one I'm so pumped

My only complaint is that inning bosses that have prestige missions that are online only.2017:
- 99 Hardware Griffey locked behind multiple online-only missions (Win 50 Ranked, Win 50 BR, Single game stat missions where your opponent would quit before you earned it because they were punks, etc.)
- All 3 "End Game" cards (Pepe Alazar, HW Pujols, HW Chipper) locked behind multiple online missions
- First 4 Programs (Rookie Archer, Rookie Chipper, BO Drabek, BO Cruz) locked behind online missions
- Numerous Daily Programs (BO Will Clark, AS Ozzie) locked behind online stat grinds
- Numerous Event Cards (PS Rajai Davis, AS Clippard) locked behind event specific missions
2018
- 3 Immortals locked behind online missions (Musial, Feller, Ted)
- 2 Immortals locked behind making World Series (Kershaw, Sandberg)
2019
- No cards locked behind online. Good on SDS
2020
- Prestige versions locked behind online. Not the greatest, but considering they're only locking a version of a card, not the card itself, I'm not as against it as I otherwise would be.
-
I think the prestige cards are there for more grinding. I doing think you have to do those missions because there will other good cards. Unless they come out with prestige or evolution cards where you can get the overall to 99 then that’s different.
-
I like the prestige diamonds, it's cool that if you really like a card, you can upgrade it so it can keep up the new card releases.
-
For those complaining about online stat grinds... You actually ONLY play the CPU? That has to be extremely boring. Why dont you hop online and face a real challenge that will help you get much better at the game and get those stat grinds going while doing so.
-
I think the idea of this has to be viewed a differnt way. The idea of this is to show off what you have done to others and the time you put into the game as such the only players that this would impact is online guys so that is how they are acquired. Yes I understand you want to see it in your collection but at its core this is a calling card that tells other online competitors your level. Yes there is a 3+ increase to the card but in reality this is a just a display of what you have done in the game to other you compete against something offline players wouldnt be doing
-
I don't mind that prestige diamonds are online only grinds. I just feel like making the Inning Bosses those types of cards is a poor design choice. After all innings bosses can be earned by playing strictly offline.
They should have made the some of the online reward cards for BR, Events or Ranked Seasons as prestige enabled cards. That way the people who earn those cards are guaranteed to already be players who play the online modes.

I think if you like the player you would get this done but also if the card is good with you and you play a lot, you may unlock the Prestige diamond without even trying.

So are you saying there should be only certain cards that are for online players only that they can prestige
If that's the case that would not go over well, Stan Musial Immortal was earned only via online play in 18 and people lost their minds. Boss cards should be the only cards to prestige as there will only be 36 of them assuming all 12 inning programs have 3 bosses

- I don't have to deal with players who rely on cheese.
- I don't have to worry about the CPU quitting on me before a HR lands.
- I don't have to potentially deal with abusive players, obscene logos or ugly jerseys.
- I can pause if something in real life comes up and is more important without annoying another player.
And the number 1 answer is.
- I don't need to beat other anonymous players online to validate myself or to have fun with the game.

So then you get the 91 Todd Helton and it doesn't matter to have a shiny Red diamond because you only play CPU. GG

So playing in conquest doesn’t count towards a players prestige?

What is the difference? From what we saw, you cannot prestige any card unless you play online anyway.
As long as the online reward cards are sellable then offline players could still buy them. The biggest problem with the Musial card was that he was only earned through online play and was not sellable.

No it is for online due to the fact that DD is an online mode.

In the end it probably won't matter at all. But is it wrong to want the option? If there is a Cardinals inning boss then I would like to have the option to prestige him, especially since he will be in my lineup anyway.
They could have just made the requirements offline higher. They already do that for innings played in Team affinities where online innings earn more points than offline ones.

But these cards aren't sellable if you want to Prestige these cards you have to lock them in so there is no stub value to this process. So again it only breaks down to a visual flex to those you play against
