Critique My Lineup—MLB 20

So I did a thread like this when I was still playing last year's game, and I figured, why not do another one?
This is the squad I am currently using. Feel free to make suggestions on how I can improve it—point me to programs and market what-a-deals. I am an offline player, so cards that are earned through online stuff are out of the question for me. My balance is 56,000 stubs.
- CF—99 Prime Ty Cobb
- 2B—98 TN Trea Turner
- RF—99 MVP Babe Ruth
- LF—99 MVP Christian Yelich
- 3B—98 TN Adam Duvall
- SS—99 TN Bo Bichette
- C—99 MVP Buster Posey
- 1B—92 TN Ji-Man Choi
- Pitcher
Bench: 96 Awards J.D. Martinez, 96 Awards Matt Weiters, 98 SS Alan Trammell, 97 Awards Anthony Rendon, 98 SS Kenny Lofton.
Rotation
- 99 Awards Tom Seaver (R)
- 99 TN Lucas Giolito (R)
- 99 TN Alec Mills (R)
- 98 Awards Zack Greinke (R)
- 98 SS Hal Newhouser (L)
Bullpen:
LRP—LS Josh Hader (L)
MRP—92 Prime Fernando Rodney (R)
MRP—91 LS Nick Anderson (R)
MRP—96 TN Garrett Crochet (L)
SU—96 Awards Rollie Fingers (R)
SU—93 TN Tyler Alexander (L)
CP—96 SS Trevor Hoffman (R) -
I'd add 98 Awards Gagne and look to move Ruth to 1B for defensive purposes. Maybe give 97 Awards McCutcheon a look - I hit well with him - but I can't hit w/J.D., we're all different.
I have 99 Wagner/99 Rivera/97 Chapman and Gagne has outperformed them for me...granted that is tied to my ability and pitch selection.
If you're playing online I'd consider working on the Jackie Robinson path, far easier to get him after they added that #42 conquest map - would be a diverse piece off your bench, utility guy, can pinch run.
-
I love seeing these types of posts. It shows how many options are out there and playable, as well as how people are setting things up.
Personally - and this would just be my personal take - I'd move Lofton into your OF with Yelich and Cobb, move Babe to 1b, put Choi on the bench, and run Wieters as primary catcher. But that's just me.

Jackie is so versatile and has a fantastic bat. I second this suggestion.

That topps now Brad miller card is a main stay on my team. Just give him a look. Great lefty bat and plays at any position but 1 and 2.
-
I'd agree with getting Tatis Jr. I'm still slightly struggling with him offenseviley but his swing is good and his attributes are fantastic. I've picked it up with him a little lately and am confident I'll get it going with him. His D is great though and that arm strength definitely comes in handy. He also gets some pretty sweet animations. If you get him, you'll get a few other cards along the way that could be useful too. You don't have to play any online games and it's really not all that long of a grind to get him.

I have Miller, and have had him on the bench before, but I had trouble getting any decent results from him.
He's like 3.6 roentgen. Not great, not terrible.
I got tons of time to kill since the internet is screwing me over again, so y'all can keep the suggestions coming while I wait for an hour to download a 170 MB game update.

In 2017 I think was the only time I made it to CS and Brad Miller and David Peralta both Golds bombed their way to me making it to 803. They both have awesome swings
Might have been 2018 put I get a pass for being old lol

I'd consider knocking out June Monthly Awards for Bellinger too. Can be done 100% offline.

I've been thinking about Belli, but the only drawback to his MA card is that he's only got 55 plate vision.

I hit over 50 HR's with that low vision. He is still on my bench. I have read many times that Contact is more important than Vision this year.

Vision isn't really a relevant stat this year. Contact and Power are the focud at the plate this year.

Ahh, okay. I've been trying to do one of the TN moments with Judge and I can't make contact with him, lol. I blamed it on his low plate vision.

Belli was an absolute stud when he came out in July....but since then you could probably reel off 15-20 outfielders who are better. But, since its free.....

What difficulty do you play on vs the cpu?
Depending on the difficulty; that vision shouldn't be a problem.

Needs more Trevor Story.

I usually play on Rookie, Veteran, and All-Star. Though I try to play on AS as less as possible, for the sake of my nerves, lol.
Since the original post I've added HR Derby Giancarlo Stanton to my bench, and I've put him in right field a couple times. He absolutely rakes.

Switch Babe to 1st. And get FOTF Lou Brock for left.
Also look at Sig Series Jackie. It's a grind; but worth it. I'd also look at the POTM Lightning Tatis.

I'll look into this and see about grinding the Saint Louis TA program for him. Might put Brad Miller at 3rd to grind Cardinals innings. I'm going to grind the RIB map first and get those cards before I work on Jackie, but having a utility and a speed demon in one card would be great.
