So I've been an avid The Show player for years. However, I found 19 so frustrating that I didn't purchase 20 at launch (even if Javy is on the cover and I'm a die hard Cubs fan). Well It was on sale and I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket so I decided to pull the trigger and buy it since I was finally getting bored with 19.

My question is where would people recommend starting? I enjoy collecting cards and building a squad I can compete with in RS. Are there certain areas that offer the most bang for your time? Areas to not waste my time in? Are there any types of packs that are actually worth it this year? What kinds of hot garbage should I expect in online play?

    Thanks!

Topps now moments for the packs. Sell or keep cards. And go through the player programs alot of free packs to be found in programs. Showdown is frustrating but gets you team affinity points again for packs and some good cards. Good luck. There is more but thats my input. Oh conquest maps. Any of the most recent ones and especially the shark map

Shark map, and other recent Conquest maps for the packs. Topps Now for the high rated cards are great for a starter.

As said, the conquest maps would be the way to build a huge selection of packs and consequently diamond players. There are a ton of player programs that award free cards, the Babe Ruth program has good rewards. You’ll also progress old inning programs as you play, because the missions are still active. By the time you’ve tackled that, you’ll be ready for online if you choose to play H2H.

    Do Topps now moments.

You can get 98 and 99 overall cards that are pretty decent. Also do the conquest maps. The free packs and stubs should get you going with some decent picks.

You could also grind Jackie Robinson in the meantime. (He can play 1b, 2b, 3b, and I think even LF and can be end game.)

Alot easier to field a cheap team this year than it was in 19. Some of the Topps now players they put in the last 2 months have insane power stats that makes you competitive right away.

The new roll it back map is a great way to farm stubs/add great players for now. You onky have to beat 6 teams and it's repeatable. Agree about Shark map as well.

There should be a be a new map coming Friday when the 9th inning drops as well.

Thanks everyone! What's the meta online this year? Are low fastballs still useless and high fastballs still guaranteed outs?

Sinkers and cutters are effective. Fastballs are pretty fast. Anyone who throws below 95mph is generally batting practice this year, the days when you could run Catfish or Don Sutton out there and spam breaking low pitches are long gone.
