As you all know, BR should be widely different next year and because of that, the meta should change completely.

This thread will start with me sharing the drafting strategy I'll be using when the game first comes out then y'all can share how you'll be drafting when the game first releases, the game isn't released yet so obviously there's no wrong answers here.

First, let's break down the new draft tiers in 20:

    • 2 diamonds

    • 3 golds

    • 9 silvers

    • 9 bronzes

    • 2 commons

Then there's the new rules that will be implemented:

    • 3 batter minimum

    • The opener

    • No more starting pitcher roulette/starting pitcher energy

    So here's my strategy:

Starters - 3 silvers and 2 bronzes, I'd love 5 silvers but I don't think that's the way to go here, if you manage your games right you can use your bronzes in your easiest games and that'll add 2 impact silvers to the lineup

Relievers - 1 diamond righty, 1 gold lefty, then 1 silver righty and fill the final 4 spots with 2 lefties and 2 righties, this will cover depth in the pen really well(you can utilize the gold and diamond as openers as well)

Lineup - 1 diamond, 2 golds, and 5 silvers. Preferably the diamond will be the high diamond but this lineup is pretty standard, even to 19

Bench - 3 bronzes and the 2 commons, this is where you try for 1 runner then hopefully at least 1 card that's good vs. Lefties and one for against lefties(the 3 batter minimum will help you with matchups)

I think this works really well with my playstyle and I'm really excited to hear feedback/your strategy for BR heading into 20

    Ahhh.

Do you know if you pick your starter prior to the game starting?

You will pick before the game yes but they will have energy so you'll have to ration when you use which pitcher

Hard to say. I've been doing things in BR a certain way for so long, these changes pretty much reset everything I know lol. It will take some getting used to and I need to do a few runs to get a good feel on what's the best strategy now.

I would disagree with the bullpen setup in the sense that 3 good RPs is enough, remember the 3 batters rule this year. Can’t bring a RP for a batter or 2 now. I’ll probably continue to fill the pen and bench with the lowest cards, past 2 PH and a closer and 2 setup men.

I disagree, I put even more weight on having 3 good relievers because it means they'll take me to the end of the game

It's really akward, I've considered myself a good br player (5× 12-0 this year with 2 in the last week) but I'm completely stumped, I have no idea what the meta is gonna be

Guess its going to depend how hard the fatigue hits starters and relievers from game to game

We are not going to know the strategy until we see how the energy bar recovers. If it recovers quickly, you won't need a deep pen with the 3 batter min. As far as the commons, I'll probably dump one in the pen and one on the bench.

Wonder if being able to select your pitcher will keep people from putting a power hitting left handed bat as their leadoff hitter?

That's what I mean. Now that there is a possibility that someone can come out with a left handed pitcher; will they still sacrifice a left handed bat?

With the 3 min player per pitcher rule, would you put 3 lefties in to start your lineup or would you go with 3 righties?

Or would you sacrifice a low rated lefty, then throw in two power righties; taking the chance that your opponent is starting a left handed pitcher?

I know he is a low rated common, and may not be in the game; but this type of rule would make Par Venditte a sought after BP guy.

Venditte is actually too low overall to be draftable

The lineups is about far more than just tier. In 19, one of my best BR sluggers was breakout Eric Thames. I believe he is a 75 silver. Personally, I hit better with him than most diamonds. In fact, I have over a .500 average with him. Don’t get caught up solely on ratings, there are cards that play far above and far below their ratings for each user.
