I dunno. On the one hand you’d think cards like McCovey, Stargell or Vida Blue may not need a higher diamond, but I’d be surprised if we didn’t see a SS version of most cards, particularly based on the way they’ve reused players like Smoltz or indeed, the prospect/future stars/players league cards like Gavin Lux who have endless variations of very similar cards for pretty much no reason at all. It would be something of a surprise to see them make multiple versions of players who don’t even deserve a solitary diamond card like Gavin Lux, yet omit a card like SS Willie Stargell, Jim Edmonds or Edgar Martinez on the basis that they already have a single diamond card in game.
For some of the elite guys like Stargell I agree. I doubt he will end the year with a 90 being his highest card like it is now. Same for Edgar. Same for Mccovey with a 95. I can’t see 83 being Fergie Jenkins’ highest card fir the year either. Certainly guys like Eck, Kimbrel, Ripken, Griffey, Gibson, Cy Young, Wagner, Jimmie Foxx, Mays and Gossage who always have 99s will get them.
But a lot of the other guys on your list I can’t see doing better than they already have. Guys like Foulke, Plesac and Floyd probably aren’t getting better than the 87s they currently have. I can’t see Olerud and Vizquel doing better than their current 89s. Same for Mazeroski at 88. I doubt Dale Murphy gets better than his current 91 or Vida Blue better than his current 93. Just for a few examples.
I’ve been wondering if they lost the rights to Kiner this year because he hasn’t had any cards at all so far, which is unusual. Usually there’s at least one lower tier card for each star. Same goes for Tony Perez.
I mean, let’s face it, most people wouldn’t even care if we got a SS Cliff Floyd, or Vizquel. Still, there’s definitely a precedent that they have had higher rated cards in years past. People won’t be clamouring for the return of Kiner or Perez either, I wouldn’t expect. I’d struggle to see where Foulke deserves a better card than for his postseason as well. But you’d expect the best versions of a lot of those cards, particularly the legends to be SS, Prime or Hardware (Awards) series, not All Stars or whatever ️
I assume that was done to try to spread the numbers around for the Trout collection. I mean there is clearly a shortage of postseason cards when you have mid 80s postseason guys going for like 75k because there are so few of them. So rather than having like 300 SS and Awards cards I assume they tried to find ones they could use elsewhere.

I don't care what they release but release something, I've got a pile of stubbs to spend and there's not enough interesting cards to buy right now and the prices all suck

same here.

Part of the reason we are getting less legends and flash backs is because we have so many prospects and future stars. All those packs could have been flashbacks. The price we pay.

I saw that. I liked the Kiner card. I hope this means we might get one for him too.

Where are elite picks for packs in general? Of all the Ducks in the Pond packs I've opened, none of them had elite picks. C'mon, SDS! Gimmie at least one!

Part of me is happy. I only draw base when I buy packs.

I don’t know how many people actually got the elite round out of the ducks packs but I got it twice. Got lucky I guess. Other than that my pack luck has been pretty awful this year. I’ve yet to pull anything worth more than 15k or so from a BIAH pack and haven’t gotten a single headliner. I did pull a Dibble from a regular pack. That was nice.
