Even though I’m a cubs fan I like Robert and think he’s going to be really good but this month he has a -2 wRC+.

100 is average, so he’s like 102% worse than the average player lol

He shouldn’t even be on the field right now.

He’s now hitting .220 for the year and .085 (6 for 70 with 30Ks and 1 XBH) for the month of September. I dare you to keep him gold on this update....

How’s Kyle Lewis doing you ask? Well, these are his stats as of two days ago compared to all AL rookies (including Robert).

    Hitting (1st, .286 avg.)
    On-base percentage (1st, .380)
    Slugging percentage (1st, .484)
    OPS (1st, .864)
    Runs scored (1st, 35)
    Hits (1st, 52)
    Walks (1st, 29)
    Multi-hit games (1st, 14)
    Times on base (1st, 81)
    Total bases (1st, 88)
    FanGraphs WAR (1st, 1.9)
Home runs (tied for 1st, 11)
    RBI (2nd, 28)
    Extra-base hits (tied for 2nd, 14)

I agree with him being gold. Willi Castro of the Tigers has a higher average, slugging, and ops though. Lewis is still the better player in my opinion

Castro is well short of the ABs needed to qualify so he wasn’t counted.

Man you pushing this again lol

Brother has a point. Stats are stats. Look where Belli is

Oh he does I was having fun with him. Lewis has been good consistently. Robert had a huge hot streak like Tatis so naturally his card was going to rise faster. Its a popularity contest

I agree Robert should drop to silver.... But I think Kyle Lewis's time to go gold has cone and went to. You are citing Roberts Setember stats which are awful, but Kyle Lewis is batting.182 this month

I don’t disagree that Lewis has slumped this month too, but his overall stats, as I cited above, are still the best of all AL rookies and are certainly worthy of gold in comparison to some of the other gold players right now (and certainly compared to Robert who stayed an 82 last update despite pretty bad overall stats even at that point). I fully agree Lewis should’ve been gold sooner, but tomorrow is their last chance to get it right.

While I agree with you, your dare essentially guaranteed LR goes diamond tomorrow and KL is back to bronze.

Call your local SDS representative and demand justice for Kyle Lewis.

We get your points on Lewis vs Robert, and quite frankly, agree with you. We just don’t care that much. Please let this be the last post you make regarding this subject...

Sadly it has to be. Tomorrow is the last update for non playoff teams.

Kyle Lewis is legitimately a number 3 hitter for a major league team right now and definitely the best rookie position player. Sds should be ashamed for not upgrading him to gold 2 weeks ago. Also his lightning card has weak stats comparatively to other cards and Topps now.
And another thing... get his batting stance right already! It is horrible to use and does not represent his true stance. Way too much bat wobble.

Luis Robert got his last rating bump because he was among the best performers in the field through the majority of this season. A lot of why Robert is so impressive is what he's doing in the field after going straight from Double-A to the Majors. The kid hasn't seen much in terms of major-league caliber pitching and has been thrown into the deep end with no lineup protection batting in the 7th spot in our lineup. He has seen nothing but sliders for the last month.

This is exactly the reason why teams don't bring up guys so quickly in any other season. This was likely always going to happen but a lot of his struggles right now are pretty much out of his control. I know others will disagree and claim he should be able to hit at any time, any place, and anywhere in the lineup but that's not how things work sometimes in the majors. Renteria should have moved him up the order a long time ago to help him get some confidence back.

    *Best AL Rookie position player

I think best overall is debatable, imo Bohm and probably Croenworth are just as good if not better.
