NBA NFL MLB FIFA are all monopoly businesses. There is a reason the government doesn't allow this with major business. Because it damages the consumer. Their MUST be competition between sports game creators within the same sport or they just DONT GIVE A F!! As long as this remains you can expect this BS game play to go on for a Millennia!

This game is awesome!
What do you like about it the most? Can you give me like a top 3 of things that make you say it's awesome?
It isnt madden. Love the realism of the players swings. And it isnt madden
Show has a lot to improve but it is by far my fave sports game. Been playing for 3-4 years and have fallen in love like madden used to have on me.

That's a fair point, it surely isn't Madden. But like you say the game has a lot to improve and in my opinion that's not their priority. So in a way, it is like Madden.

Instead of you having Elon Musk money we should see if he would make a baseball game. I mean the dude figured out how to land rockets on their own and cars that drive themselves while (mostly) not hitting things. He could probably hack out a hitting engine in a few hours.

Ha that would be great. Elon is great because he doesn't see problems but challenges and has the money to make it happen. I'm not sure how much he cares about gaming though.

I like how you think LOL

Totally agree with op unfortunately this is what we get with no competition in the market...like you said. We can only hope for a revamped product when this game goes multi-platform next year. With the new console generation just around the corner I don't expect anything changing much until then. One thing is for certain in my mind though until this business model proves to be ineffective because people stop shoveling $ into the machine this is what we're going to get.

I wish I had resources like Elon Musk and take the industry head on.
I will be happy to invest my $99 2021 MLB the Show fee into your new company.

@EncinoMan_TV Just for the record, I’m not impressed with your team or stub count.. I could easily get any card in the game if I wanted to. Doesn’t mean [censored].. you don’t have any ranked games played team is irrelevant to this discussion

I agree. I don't judge people who play offline only, but you can't objectively judge the game that way.

This topic is a tough issue for me because there games are incredible, and I mean that from the perspective of someone who grew up playing sports games in the 90's. I couldn't of comprehended something like the show while I was playing rbi baseball.
That being said I get all the frustrations with today's games and agree with many of the complaints listed in previous posts.
Something I might add is the impact YouTubers have had on sports sims in my opinion. I feel the impact has been mostly negative, especially in games like 2k and Madden. A lot of players now just try and learn the exploits which leads to frustrating and repetitive online gameplay.
My hope is we see a big jump in gameplay on the next gen.

Fair points. YouTubers surely don't help because they actively market and encourage the whole microtransactions culture with pack openings and always having the most stacked teams ever. I mean that more in regard to Madden and NBA2K as well, because like I said earlier anyone can have a stacked team in MLBTS.

This is content wise - The stubs situation has been a big W for me this year. I refuse to put money into stubs and there have been plenty of stubs to go around, without playing the market, which is another thing I find too boring to do. Compare that to 2k or even The Show 17 and it's something that's kept me in the game this year. I hope that doesn't change when it goes cross platform and potentially to a more mass audience that can be fleeced for stubs.

I am happy with that part as well - the content and the stub situation. But at the end of the day the gameplay mechanics will always be most important and it has been seriously lacking/not making progress and that hurts the franchise more than any content can ever make up for.

I do see where you are coming from, but I don't think that The Show is even in the same ballpark of shame as Madden and FIFA - which is much worst gameplay wise than it was a decade ago. I think you're going to struggle with a sim concept for baseball, because I'm not sure it would be fun and it certainly wouldn't be fun for people that aren't us (e.g. people that have played for a while). Nobody would hit a ball. There are obvious frustrations, which I hope they fix/improve, but with the other games I've mentioned they've actually mailed in the gameplay and it is WORSE than it used to be.
