And there was the one time they traded for Carl Crawford, Adrian Gonzalez and Beckett in August of 2012, so yah pretty sure they make big moves at the trade deadline or even after it.

As a long time Padre fan, and a long time Dodger hater I do have to give them credit for the team they put together, they are VERY good. While they do have a core of homegrown guys I don't think anyone could argue that they go after big name guys in trades and free agency. They most definitely are the Yankees of the west. Not sure the Padres can catch them for first in the west this year with not a lot of games left, and considering how good of a team they have, but a playoff match up with the Dodgers would be a lot of fun. I don't know if the Padres are on the Dodgers level yet but we're getting there and I think they can feel us coming.

They're ok, let's be honest....they've hit ok, they've pitched ok, but they're capable of much better than this...

There insanely deep, with the talent they have they can afford to have a couple guys in a slump. Hard to find a weakness on this years team.
