i currently have an old samsung monitor with 8ms reaction time and 60hz.. would a monitor with 1ms reaction time and 144hz (i know current gen consoles can't reach 144hz) make a difference?

i switched from TV to that old monitor and i got like 400% better. i wanna get just a liiiiiittle bit better and wanna know if a better monitor could give me the edge..

Response time is a marketing gimmick, you always want 1ms when it comes to this number. What truly matters is input lag, you can Google trustworthy hardware reviewers to get those numbers. As for the 144hz, like you said that won't matter for current gen but probably will for next gen. I would hold on just a bit until the ps5 specs are revealed before buying new hardware like a monitor, if you're planning on upgrading to the ps5 that is.

If you can find one on a good sale maybe, but I wouldn't say it's going to be as dramatic as going from a tv to monitor, 8ms is high for today's standards but still pretty solid. Microcenter is my go to spot for monitors.
