@Hubijerk said in Who’s the best 3rd baseman you’ve played with?:

Scmidt's defense is second to none. If his stance and swing work for you then you won't find better. As much as I wanted him to work out for me I just can't hit with him. I tried out Brett and he's a good compromise. D is almost as good (his arm, while still strong, isn't as strong as Schmidt's), but I can hit great with him, and he has surprising power, I've hit more dingers with him in a short time than with Schmidt over a longer sample size.

I guess I'm in the minority that sees a benefit of solid D at 3rd base. Didi doesn't have the arm, I did use Correa quite a bit at 3rd earlier in the season, but Brett is an upgrade.

I don't think I can like and relate to this post enough. Schmidt was a no-brainer to me. On paper anyway. I seriously couldn't get used to that stance and slow/long bat he has. I sub him in just for that defense in close games in RS though.

I am one of those others that values defense at 3B and I've ended up winning games online because of errors when the other team had so-so 3B's. Used to have Chipper and Brett. I had numerous throwing errors with Chipper on many close plays and I sold him eventually. Brett is probably the best, pure 3B in the game. Great D, butter swing, surprising pop that leaves the yard or goes in for a deep gap.

Right now, I have Banks at 3B and he's been really good over there so far, but I miss that Brett card from time to time. I switch between Story and J-Roll at Short.

I've been using Sheffield there and he's been incredible. Makes way more plays than you'd expect, and that strong arm is nice. Realistically he's there for the bat more than anything else.

Before I got Sheffield I was using POTM Correa at 3rd. Same idea with the arm, and as a bonus he's free to earn.

Chipper has a sweet swing. I have him prestige. I retired him because in my journey to unlock mvp trout I unlocked a lot of cards and I have Sheffield at 3rd now

I appreciate all the responses!! I’m probably gonna go with Chipper because I like the switch hitting aspect he brings(and I’m a die hard Braves fan) but I may try Brett or the Panda out to. I’m definitely gonna keep Longoria on the bench for defense but Encarnacion is gonna have to go!

Ive used every third basemen and 3 have spots on my team still. Brett starts because you usually face RHP but prestige Sheff and Chipper are off the bench. Chipper I feel comfortable to pinch hit with even vs righties at 91/91 his swings so sweet.

For months, it's been FOTF Joey Gallo. Of course, I've moved him around the diamond cus I like his versatility and LH Power. I put him in my #2 spot. Now I'm starting to platoon Gallo with Awards Evan Longoria depending on pitcher handedness. I still can't consistently hit well when its a LH Pitcher vs LH Batter.

Sheffield by far the most consistent for me. It’s hard for me to take him out of lineup and I like other cards in outfield. Banks at SS, but I have Chipper and Kris Bryant on bench. They are both very good too. That Kris Bryant was clutch for me in the Babe Ruth moments with multiple pinch hit homers.

Sheffield, defense doesn’t matter much at 3rd, just need a good arm

???? I’d love to play you in RS and rake liners down the 3rd base line the whole game. Think you might have a different opinion on 3rd base defense after that

Blood Diamond Chipper will give you a decent fielding, monster offense 3rd basement.

I’m sure you could try to do that all day...ask cbrev the top 50 player about defense at 3rd lol...also Chipper isn’t any better than Sheffield with Chippers weak arm

I’ll take chippers average arm and defensive range over sheffs good arm and his inability to get to anything down the 3rd base line

He will knock it down...if you want to try to pull everything down the line against me good luck. I’ll just bunt with my team to Chipper...

The first bunt might work, you won’t get away with bunting after that. You do realize he is the best in the game at charging barehand fielding and throwing in the same motion. Just like in real life

Not sure what point your making with that post as you haven’t given any context about that particular post I made a month ago. We’re debating the merits of fielding at 3rd base and you’re the one bragging about how it’s not important and how you would break down Chipper at 3rd. I’m simply rebutting your argument. Do you have a problem with defending your position? I mean deflecting to another argument doesn’t make you very credible.
