I definitely get what your saying about offline not having as much to do. I don't want this coming off in a bad way or anything but Diamond Dynasty is made to be an online mode and majority of the time you spend playing that game mode should be online versus others not the CPU.
I understand that's the way they seem to have intended to position it, but I just don't see why this interesting and entertaining card-collecting part of the game should be restricted to online multiplayer. I'm far more interested in it as a way of acquiring and progressing a team than being a GM in Franchise mode, but the decision to target it to online players only seems needless and arbitrary.
Here is what you can do offline in DD:
- Play versus CPU MLB Teams
- Play versus other users DD teams controlled by CPU
- Conquest - I believe there is more than 10 maps and all are re-playable.
- Moments - We all already know there are a ton of them.
Here is what you can do Online in DD:
- Ranked Seasons
- Battle Royale
- Events (when they have them running)
- Play versus a Friend
You literally have just as much to do offline as you do online, yet this is suppose to be an online mode. Hopefully Custom Leagues actually lets you play full seasons and you can then select your DD team to run a season with versus CPU, I think that would make all parties happy.

Conquest - I believe there is more than 10 maps and all are re-playable.
Moments - We all already know there are a ton of them. The first and second items have no inherent purpose. You play a game and... that's it. there's no reward, no greater structure for them to be a part of, no immediate reason to play them at all. The games are about as meaningful as the games of Ice Hockey I played on the Atari 2600 in the mid-80s. I need better than that in this day and age.
Conquest has some framework to it beyond single meaningless games, but like I said, it's nothing but three-inning road games. It's the only part of offline DD that has any structure at all, and it gives me no use for my home uniforms or stadium cards.
The overwhelming majority of moments (over 80%, last I checked) don't involve my DD team. I have no interest in those. Even the ones that do use it don't count toward Team Affinity or Daily Mission innings (because "Moments is not Diamond Dynasty") in another baffling, arbitrary decision.
The list of online things-to-do contains so much more in terms of meaningfulness and rewards than the offline list that they're not comparable.
Hopefully Custom Leagues actually lets you play full seasons and you can then select your DD team to run a season with versus CPU, I think that would make all parties happy.
This I agree with completely.

If you think those modes are equal and/or that the rewards are equal, sure, there is just as much to do.
-
My guess is that they will return and I mostly enjoyed them (although there were some that I hated). They certainly allowed me to earn program points and get rewards that I never would have earned any other way.
-
I liked some of the ones I could accomplish for cards and such. Rookie Chipper was worth grinding for. SS Ichiro was worth the effort. SS Wade Davis was very worthwhile.
Basically, if the set of missions needed was manageable in relation tot he reward I worked for it. The missions which involved a lot of RTTS elements were miserable and not worth the effort. Gaining assists when the CPU isn't hitting the ball near my side of the field or trying to steal bases when the CPU has me at first with a man on 2nd, these missions were definitely not worthwhile.

MLB 18s grind for Immortal cards was way too long and it actually benefited someone who picked up the game in June/July (second round of career arcs came out) more then someone who was playing from the start, which was idiotic. Also, just because you are playing a game vs CPU but the stats are going to a card like Immortal Babe Ruth, you find that to be "structure and rewarding." Once you earned those Career arc cards like Belle, you would literally place them at the top of your lineup take one at bat and quit out until you completed his card, once again idiotic.
Furthermore, if you hover over DD at the Menu it literally says Create, Customize, and compete ONLINE. The game mode is structured for online users and if you play that mode majority of your time should be spent ONLINE.
Let me give you a different perspective: What If a user who spends 95% of their time playing ONLINE went and played Franchise/RTTS and started complaining that there is not enough ONLINE aspects in this mode and said they need to give us more in this mode, its not rewarding at all. Would that make sense? No.

Hover over DD, it literally says Create, Customize, and Compete ONLINE. The mode is made for online users and Devs should not waste time trying to make more offline options. DD is made for you to spend time playing online not offline, that is literally why there is Franchise and RTTS. If you want Ted, Babe, Chipper, etc. etc. go download a historic roster and use that in Franchise. If you like the whole collecting baseball cards thing, there are great sims you can download on PC or Iphone.

You've changed your main point here. Earlier, you said there was just as much to do in DD offline as online, now you're saying that it's not for me anyway. Which is it?
Meanwhile, I'm saying that there's no good reason for it to be restricted to online only.
Let me give you a different perspective: What If a user who spends 95% of their time playing ONLINE went and played Franchise/RTTS and started complaining that there is not enough ONLINE aspects in this mode and said they need to give us more in this mode, its not rewarding at all. My perspective is that I'm interesting in engaging in DD because of its unique way of building and progressing a team and that in past versions I was able to enjoy many of the offline-capable objectives there were. That got taken away, and I'm expressing that I want to be invited as well.
Now is there a situation similar to that in RTTS? No, there isn't.
Is there a similar situation where there was an Online Franchise Mode that got taken away and people have been expressing a desire to have back? I'm guessing you know the answer to that.

My Main point still stands, there is just as much to do. Period. You can't argue it. Sure it may not reward you how you would like but it is an ONLINE mode after all, so if you play it offline only you should expect to not be rewarded. The fact that you think fielding a team of all LF and playing against the CPU for 700 hits is fun and rewarding is where we completely disagree and will never see eye to eye on. Conversation is over. Grinding endless hours Offline for cards that are to be utilized ONLINE is a ridiculous way of structuring an ONLINE mode. Glad to see it gone and I hope 20 brings more of the same.
O and you want to build and progress a team....go play franchise with the White sox or Miami.

Even the "Play vs CPU," "Conquest," etc. is "online." Offline is just shorthand for "not vs other people."

- Probably
- I have a love hate relationship with them. It took me a bit to wrap my head around not doing every one. After I conceded that I wasn't going to even attempt the multi-game ones or anything in the Extreme section I enjoyed them much more. They essentially became free program stars.
-
I'm impartial to moments!! Basically because they screwed you alot!! By that I mean, the CPU whole team became gold glove players if you needed hits. If pitching stats were needed they would foul off 8-10 pitches.
If moments return I'm fine with it but I'd also like some stat based missions (nothing like 18 though). Maybe like the first tier player's you had to accumulate to get in 18!! -
Regarding the DD online/offline argument, I'm willing to bet that the whole concept of DD as a separate entity will be torn down in coming iterations of the game - possibly even starting with 21 - and everything will be integrated to bring the two separate markets (DD and non-DD) back together to be as one. I started writing a reflection on this four weeks ago but have been too busy to finish it.
From a business and development perspective, there are so many reasons it makes sense to do this and even more reasons to start it with 21.
March to October v1.0 was the beginning of this. For example, gameplay seemed to have more in common with what people say of DD mode gameplay than Franchise and Season(RIP) gameplay. Let's hope that's corrected in 20. This year, you will earn Team Affinity points (or whatever it's called, I don't play DD modes) by playing M2O.
Custom Leagues (both DD and non-DD teams option) is the next sign - heck, even the menu option is outside of the DD submenu.

You already earned team affinity points by completing a mto. I didn't care for mto, so I earned my points by using players from that team, and completing all exchanges.

I don’t think many people did MtO for team affinity’s at all really, since it was a complete waste of time if you didn’t win the WS lmao.

No you don't. You only got points by winning the WS (even though in the initial streams they said objectives would be different depending on what team you were playing with), you didn't get credit for the team innings played.

What do you think completing it means. I shouldn't have to tell you completing it means winning the ws, as the conditions are quite clear under a team's affinity tab.
So yes, if you won the ws you earned points; up to 60 points if you won it on legend. -

Which is exactly why I didn't do it. Didn't help either that none of the stats counted, and that I was being forced to play with scrubs.

I like moments I just wish they played better. Some of the Ruth moments for example. The ball hits very weird off the bat and fouls off oddly. I’ve noticed that in a lot of moments.
And when you have a moment like extreme come back and win a 6 run deficit and you just make me line out over and over it gets annoying and mundane. It’s showing of the broken-ness of the game in a lot of ways as far as hitting mechanics.
