Stan vs Papi

Ruth is roughly an 8 hour grind. If you're 25% of the way that's 6 hours remaining. I'd strongly recommend spending 1-2 hours a day working towards Ruth, and using him in 3-6 days.

Thanks man, I'm working toward Ruth anyway but was still interested in giving Papi or Stan a try. Which one do you prefer?

Stan>Papi

Me personally, I can't hit for drek with Ortiz. I've had much more success with Musial.
I'm also pretty trash, so take my advice with a truckload of salt......

I’d recommend this as well. Once you get Ruth, you’ll most likely stick him at 1st and never look back. Save the stubs to buy another player and hang in with Fred until you get the Bambino. Trust me, he’s beyond worth it.

I have both Ruth and Stan. I dont have Walker, so using Ruth in RF (he not terrible a defense and better than Stan) and Stan a first. I've never used Papi, but i've been very happy with Musial. His defense at 1B has been better than I expected, and he can hit LH pitching very well. His swing is very similar to Mantle's, and he generates excellent power. Stan is also WAY cheaper, so if stubs are an issue, its an easier choice.

As a place holder for a few days, I wouldn't put too much stock in it. Just use whoever you have until Babe. He's the end game 1b.
If you MUST upgrade for a few days, Stan and then sell when you are done.

I’ve had more luck with Musial. Papi’s my first PH bat

OK thanks all for the great feedback!

Stan was a ground ball machine for me and because he is slow that led to alot of double plays. Ortiz was much better for me but I sold high after the inning was over and I had the free Motm Bellinger to take his spot. If you are set on a lefty try Fotf Thome, he destroys righties. Big Frank is going to be tempting, he was one of my favorites growing up. Otherwise I really like Bellinger because of his speed and he is free just by grinding.

Save your stubs and work towards Ruth. I have both prestiged and Stans on my bench Papi doesn't play
-
As most have stated - Ruth is the way to go.. i'm not hitting great in about 30 ab's.. but about .300 and my first bomb with him recently.. Stan is on my bench i was hitting decent with him.. int he .300's (which is good for me) and 8hr's... I have Walker in right, but the debate is Harper replacing walker? Big Hurt will prob be a bench bat.. or platoon with Ruth

Just curious of your sample size. Musial is my best power hitter, and it's not close. Ortiz is ok for me, but not nearly as good as Babe or Stan.

I started off rough with Ortiz but it took a while and he finally got hot as of late the last 2 weeks or so.

I had Stan for maybe 50 abs, Ortiz for probably double that. After I had sold Stan, I had another guy explain to me that Stan needed the PCI just a touch lower so he could get a better launch angle. I didn't get a chance to try it out, but is does prove that stance and swing matter. Hence everyone having different opinions about batters. Glad Stan is hitting for you. I'm about 60 pts into Babe so I cant wait to finish it off and try him out.
