Who are some players you're rooting for to get a "Finest Series" card?
-
I suppose, this could also be a "who I'd really love to see go diamond" thread too -- but I figured that'd probably turn into an investment thread and ultimately become redundant and pointless.
For me, I have quite a few players that immediately spring to mind:
Nick Anderson, CP - Rays
I'll admit that I hadn't heard of Nick Anderson until I watched some Marlins games last year. I saw a lanky tall dude that I assumed would have horrible control, I soon realized that Nick Anderson may be the next "big thing" as far as relievers go in baseball. He has a fastball that looks like it rises that he can throw at nearly 100mph pretty consistently while also throwing a curveball that just drops off the face of the earth. For those that want a better understanding of why I am so fascinated by this relief pitcher, I encourage you to click the following link.Max Kepler, OF - Twins
Outside of White Sox players, Max Kepler (alongside Nick Anderson) are my two favorite current players in all of baseball. I love what Kepler is doing for the game of baseball in European countries and honestly, hope he reaches the next step in his career as he is so close to becoming a star -- even if it has to be on the Twins.J.T. Realmuto, C - Phillies
Another one of my favorite players in all of baseball that I feel is now getting the old "Nolan Arenado" treatment, in that he should be so much better and rated much higher in The Show.Mookie Betts, OF - Dodgers
How long have we been asking for a high-90s Mookie Betts!?!? I feel like it's always something we bring up as a community, last year Ramone even hinted at a Finest card for Mookie and we never got one. I demand a high diamond this year... preferably with the 2B secondary position.Yoan Moncada, 3B - White Sox
Now this one almost feels like a cheap add because I am a White Sox fan but last year I barely got to use his POTM diamond card before the game's life-cycle was over. He's one of my absolute favorite players in the game today and has, in my opinion, one of the best swings in The Show. -
I don't know what the criteria is to get a finest card or if he's been in the league long enough but I'd love to see a Tatis Jr. finest.
I second Mookie as well. I don't think his LS cards ever do him justice but I love using his finest cards. I would be shocked if he doesn't get one too, he has the past couple of years.
-
German Marquez. Id love a usable card.
-
moncada would be so great.. i still use his FOTF sometimes because i hit that well with him
-
I want a higher rated Francisco Lindor. I really enjoyed his card from last year.
-
Realmuto and a new Nola card
-
I would love Mookie as well. He’s never gotten a high end card like you said. Ramone never “hinted” at a finest Mookie last year though. He was in the Red Sox fan voting and the community flat out just voted for Devers over him lmao

Tatis Jr. had a 97 overall finest card last year, so it is definitely possible for him to get one.

First year to DD,, anyone want to share how Finest cards work? Every team gets one? Launched in packs as well as earned last year, is that true?
Many expect them in TA4?
Sorry, just trying to catch up here as only one I have seen is JRam’s in the prestige path

Man I must be getting old, I don't remember that at all from last year. If he got one last year I would bet there is a good chance he will this year. Especially considering how he is playing so far this season.

Hoping for a Kyle Lewis and a Vladdy finest. Vladdy needs to turn it around tho.

There were a lot of solid Finest cards released close together, so it was easy for some to get lost in the shuffle. Maybe you didn’t use him. I only used Tatis on a team build or two and he never started for me despite having solid attributes.
I think Lindor and Bogarts were the top tier Finest shortstops most people used, and then you also had guys like Bregman and Albies who were eligible at short.

Yeah by the time the finest cards were released there were probably a lot better options at short over Tatis so I most likely wouldn't have used him. As a Padre fan though I should remember that he at least got one. Old man memory i suppose...haha.

Finest cards are the last series of cards usually released each year. They are basically an extremely supped-up Live Series card (but they are not Live Series cards and have nothing to do with them).
The coolest thing about these cards is that last year they gave each team a card and even held a poll that people could vote on and they'd give the winner the card. For example, the White Sox poll was between Lucas Giolito, Yoan Moncada, and Tim Anderson. Tim Anderson ended up getting the most votes so he received a 97 overall card.
They also give the best players at each position a Finest card. These are based on who had the best season in real life last year. The guys who got one for that were:
Catcher - J.T. Realmuto
1B - Pete Alonso (I think)
2B - D.J. Lemahieu
3B - Alex Bregman
SS - Xander Bogaerts
OF - Christian Yelich, Cody Bellinger, and Ronald Acuna Jr. (I think) -
Joe Kelly for obvious reasons.
Jesus Aguilar - the dude has slimmed down, and is hitting the ball hard -
i know buxton would never get on but i’d love to see that. mookie, tatis and pete alonso would all be guys i’d love to see get one
-
I’m excited for the card art. The card art on Finests is always great.
