Anyone else on the fence about preordering?

I’m really on the fence about this. I play mlb because I love baseball and it’s the only video game I’m good at. But rn I just really can’t justify spending $70 on a game when there’s no guarantee of good gameplay. Really feel that I spent too much time on 19 and I don’t wanna repeat that in 20. Anyone else sharing my lack of excitement for mlb 20?
On one hand I want to play and have an elite record (with less games played) but I also just really don’t have a good feeling about gameplay after being excited for the new games for the last 2 years, only to be disappointed with the gameplay at launch
If you take that logic about the last 2 and were disappointed, then the lack of that excitement sbolded texthould be good gameplay this year..See the logic?.Hope that made sense.

I'm also on the fence. I'm skeptical that they fixed the balance between rng and user input as much as they claim to have. However, as much as I complained about last year's game I played it for hours and hours...

Imo DD has a lot of ppl feeling burnt it’s the same exact thing year after year just woven different. Custom league is going to be a breath of fresh air for many since it’s less time consuming.
-
I personally buy every year but if you buy, play the game for 15 to 20 hours and don't like it, don't play it. You basically get the same out of mlb that you would most other titles.

I just need more info on the Diamond Choice packs and what the XP path will look like before I choose between the 80 dollar game and the 100 dollar game. So far I've only seen a DH card with no stats in a year where I am told defense will matter a lot more. At least when Ortiz was with the Twins he could field the position until Doug Mientkiewicz was ready to take over 1B duties, I have no interest in his 86 OVR Red Sox card.

Are they going to take directional out of online?
Is RNG not going to be a factor?
Is user input going to factor?
If I smack the pitcher is the ball going to drop beside him and is he going to be able to pick it up and throw out my runner who’s walking to first base?
Are 99’s going to drop routine fly balls?
If there’s a ball hit into the gap, is the runner in front of me going to take a hesitation/mental lapse/I lost my shoe at second base and somehow gets thrown out at third?
Are there going to be these awful mind numbing I’m half asleep one eye open “moments”?
What new specialty junk is going to be added to the marketplace? -

What new specialty junk is going to be added to the marketplace? You should already know the answer to all of these, and it will be the answer you don't want.
You know directional will be in, you know RNG is there and the trend has been more. Input has always mattered, it just seems to matter less each year, this line drive to the pitcher for an out has been an issue for more than 5 years, I see no chance it is fixed, you know that no player is perfect so they will force errors to occur no matter how good the player is, and your last 3 who knows.

Is RNG not going to be a factor? No chance
Is user input going to factor? More will depend on the score
If I smack the pitcher is the ball going to drop beside him and is he going to be able to pick it up and throw out my runner who’s walking to first base? Yes, if you are in the lead. If behind, the ball will bounce and player will be safe at 1st.
Are 99’s going to drop routine fly balls? See prior answer. All part of the Little Billy code that isn't going anywhere.
If there’s a ball hit into the gap, is the runner in front of me going to take a hesitation/mental lapse/I lost my shoe at second base and somehow gets thrown out at third? Again, all depends on score and part of the Little Billy code.
Are there going to be these awful mind numbing I’m half asleep one eye open “moments”? Doubt if moments are in the game but not sure.
What new specialty junk is going to be added to the marketplace? As long as it isn't souvenirs, you should be good. -
Just because a player is in the lead doesn’t mean they have to force errors especially on a 99 card. Are there errors in baseball? Yes. But come on this is a video game stop penalizing a person.
Lastly, sds knows that everyone has complained about late hits being great. We all know their part of the game, ok. But take it out of the announcers mouth, it’s a slap in the face. We complain so they implement it to an announcement in game when a late hit is produced. Just stop it already..

definitely preordering... hopefully Thursday... my only issue is if I'm getting 15th Anniversary Edition or Digital Deluxe since I don't have the flexibility I had in years past where I was able to get both... last year I preordered both but never went forward with picking up the "Go Yard!" Edition from GameStop... with my internet situation being shaky I might just opt for 15th Anniversary Edition and as long as GameStop doesn't botch this year like they did two years ago I'll go pick it up on the 12th and hopefully enjoy a 4-day weekend of playing this game to my hearts content... but we'll see if that plan comes to fruition.

Man every year the game play is awesome online for the first couple weeks. I get all hyped spend money etc.. Then the patches come, they [censored] the game up intentionally and we get back to user input not meaning [censored]. It happens every year. I will not be buying this game period until I'm certain they actually listened this year to the fact user input SHOULD MATTER!
-
I think I’m gonna pull the trigger and get the $70 version. I’ve been thinking about it a lot, and Ik I’m probably gonna want to try 20 out for myself at some point, so I may as well just get it and try it out right away. Also, this league mode with customizable sliders really has me excited for 20. Even if rs plays like [censored], customizable sliders will fix a lot of the problems with exit velos and lineouts
-
Waiting is a no-brainer for me. Just on principle, I'm not giving SDS a 40% premium to play at release so there's no real incentive to pre-order.
Also get 4 days worth of reviews to find out if they actually made any changes to hitting outside the PCI visualization and enhanced feedback. Even though I also know they will likely wipe out rewarding input in the first few patches regardless.

Preach. Just long enough to sucker in folks on the fence but not long enough for the whales to get discouraged and stop opening their wallet. Like clockwork.

Yeah if I hate DD then I'll just play leagues with the foul ball and contact rate turned way down
-
To me 19 played it's best out the box then any other MLB the show gm!! It got worse the more they patched it. IMO
-
I just preordered the other day. Only gm I play when I do have time. Got the $100 version for the first time cause I really want to hit the ground running. Plus with lgs being in gm I'll split my time between the modes. So this will put me in a gd spot to build my DD team quicker
-
Welp I dropped 80 bucks for the privilege to beta test the game before it releases to the general public. I am the problem

If a person is on the fence and wants to wait it out the 4 days for reviews, that ain’t gonna work. The first 2 weeks everyone and their dog will be posting they finally did it they finally listened the game is amazing. 2 weeks later a few complaints begin. 4 weeks later more complaints start to come in. 6-8 weeks later everyone and their dog is complaining and the game is broke. FACTS.
Don’t bother waiting, there’s no point, you either want to play a baseball game or you don’t. Because I’m telling you it’ll be the same game with the same issues, it always is! There will be shiny new cards! New legends! New leagues! They added new hitting and fielding improvements! New content! And the game will play the same... They add new stuff each year to mask the problems. Then the shiny toy effect rubs off and here we are! And repeat see you 2021!
