Will you keep playing The Show after Madden drops?

Instead of responding to each person piling on the “dude won with a punter at QB” bandwagon, I’ll just post one response to all...First off, He didn’t win because of an OP running game. He won because he played absolutely phenomenal defense. He shut the other guy completely down & shut him out. He was so good on defense that he only ran the ball to avoid throwing a costly pick or the QB fumbling on a sack - basically don’t do anything to let the other guy get any cheap points. He didn’t run wild. He scored 14 points on offense & punted several times. He played throwback football is what he did. That tournament was also a salary cap tourney so he chose to use his best picks on defense & it paid off. I don’t think it’s cool that people minimize his achievement. What he did was amazing & will be looked back as legendary. The game isn’t broken nor is gameplay bad. The champ simply played to his strength of defense and chose to run a conservative offense to not risk any turnovers. I honestly think people in here haven’t watched the game & are just piling on what one person said.
If you like the show better - That’s fine! I don’t care. I just was curious if anybody else was jumping ship is all lol.
People aren't minimizing what he did. He exploited an unrealistic game by min maxing his team to the game's lack of focus on realism. Equivalent would be guys in the summer circuit not drafting pitchers to maximize their hitting and pitching with position players. Unrealistic and would not work in the show. This is the foundation of what everyone is saying. It's not a simulation game. I'll take the RNG over the paper, rock scissors e-book gameplay of Madden.

I think I am out after Madden drops. No good knuckleballers all year.
And if that’s why you’re leaving then my opinion, that I’m sure will be shared by many here is, see ya don’t let the door hit you on the back side on your way out cheeseball!!! One cheeser down, now we just need the other toxic players to exit stage left. I know it won’t happen but it’s nice to dream.
Talk about toxic. Good thing I don't give a rats a** about your garbage opinion. The knuckleball has a history in MLB. I am sure you are ok with high sinkers and starters out of the pen. Bottom line is there is no need to attack someone who has a different opinion.
Yeah the knuckleball has a long history of being a gimmick. How many Hall of Famers feature that pitch, please tell me how many. I can count one and he is called a knuckleballer because he had one in his arsenal but it wasn’t used like how Wakefield used his or that trash Steven Wright used his. Niekro has other plus pitches. So again, in this game it’s a cheese pitch used by people who don’t want to learn to pitch with normal pitchers. Btw I love it when someone uses them, I kill knuckleballers. It just cheese junk to imho and many others will say the exact same thing!!!
First off dipsh*t there are at least 4 HOF pitchers who primarily threw the knuckleball: Hoyt Wilhelm, Ted Lyons, Jesse Haines and Phil Niekro. Niekro's primary pitch was the knuckleball. That's the reason he pitched into his late 40s. Lastly you have a lot of posts talking about sinkers. You know that the repeated throwing of high sinkers is the biggest exploit in this game. So looks like you are one big ol hypocrite.

I have played madden since super Nintendo and until last year, was the only game I played and would play straight through. I just started playing this a little last year to give myself a couple months break from Madden.
Its tough to compare the two as they aren't the same sport. Matchmaking is much better in the show, community is better in the show. The big complaint I have with the show is h2h needs major work... the comeback logic makes the game unrealistic. I feel like in Madden I control my own destiny in h2h where in the show I feel like the difficulty is wildly inconsistent. I will be back on madden at release this year, but enjoyed playing the show the last couple months. -

So let me get this straight, you’re argument that the knuckleball isn’t a gimmick is based on 4 Hall of Famers, 3 of which aren’t even considered modern era pitchers and would not be Hall of Famers in today’s day and age And the other, whom I actually watched pitch, in Phil Niekro and know for a fact that he didn’t completely rely on that pitch until late in his career. That’s your argument. Then accuse me of using sinker exploits. Well for you info I love the sinker. And the sinker isn’t a gimmick the knuckleball is. And in a video game it’s cheese. Have a good day sir!!!

Im skipping Madden at launch this year. The franchise mode was ignored AGAIN. I can play 20 with updated rosters and real draft classes. I know the current games problems and have either mitigated or learned to deal with them. Im just not giving EA a dollar for a game that has obviously been squirted out with minimal effort (like they always do the year before new consoles launch) just for a new MUT and 10 minutes of mediocre cut scenes for Face of the Franchise.
As for MUT vs DD -- its not even a contest. DD is a far fairer, less scummy way to monetize your game. I cant even follow the multiple levels of grift going on in MUT sometimes. DD is about wanting your favorite players new card, MUT is about needing new cards to keep up with the meta and compete online.....at least thats what its felt like.
Regardless, The Show is my jam, and ill stick with it for the foreseeable future. If they drop the content continually like they did last year, i may end up playing until Xmas again.
Madden will be on sale in a couple weeks anyway. If it somehow ends up being so good i just cant fight the temptation, ill get it on discount.
Plus its our last year of Playstation exclusivity with The Show. Who knows what happens when the game goes multi-platform.....im going to enjoy this last pristine edition as long as possible.

Throwing the sinker high & in is a gimmick. I don’t think I ever saw Maddux throw one high in his entire career. The sinker is a pitch that is always thrown low in the zone.

A high sinker is a two seam fastball that’s it. Maddux threw 2 seamers high and tight all the time. His signature pitch was a tailing 2 seamer that would literally be thrown at the hitters head and would break right down the inside black at hand/chest level.

Madden is more of a cash grab, but it's more challenging. I played the Show two years for two months each year as and have a winning record in RS both years. Madden I've played 10x more than the show and it's much more of a challenge to win online consistently.... this year was my first year ever in mut with a losing record in h2h. To be good in madden, you have to spend more time grinding and practicing by a lot compared to the show. You cant just pick up madden and start winning online, where the show you can.

Throwing the sinker high & in is a gimmick. I don’t think I ever saw Maddux throw one high in his entire career. The sinker is a pitch that is always thrown low in the zone.
Thank you for that response. Guarantee you that Orel Hershiser didn't throw up in an in sinkers 50 percent of the time. I have that guy on block so I cannot see the inane prattle coming out of his mouth.

Yeah it wasn't a nasty changup or his baseball IQ that made Maddux great. It was the up and in sinker.

Hey bud, you do realize that if you had blocked me, I wouldn’t be seeing your responses. And I never said I use the up and in sinker thing. I simply said I love the sinker. However a sinker thrown high in the Strikezone is simply just a two seam fastball. I can’t name a pitcher in this game that has both a two seamer and a sinker in their pitch arsenal. That is also not me saying their isn’t one, I just can’t think of one. So again please justify the sinker as being a gimmick.
-
Even though I think the show is much better in terms of gameplay and in DD vs MUT, I'll probably switch over to madden for the most part until madden starts getting stale for me when I'll come back to the show a bit.
Even tgough I like the show better and do enjoy the team building experience in modes like DD, I like the game a heck of a lot more early on before everyone has super teams so I'd like to enjoy madden before that happens

Yeah you’re not ignorant or anything. Where in any of my post did I say Greg Maddux’s signature pitch was a high sinker. I recall mentioning a tailing two seamer but not a high sinker. You can word manipulate all day long, but it doesn’t make it correct No matter how you spin it.
