Starting pitching is where to spend your stubs this year
-
With so many overpowered hitters, and all of them relatively similar, starting pitcher (and relief pitching) is where to spend your stubs.
I can hit with cards that don’t even make my team. But pitching is what will win you games when you and your opponent hit well.
With that being said, I bought Feller and Sale. Safe to say, I’m legit stub broke, but I like my team. Some cheaper (and free) options I like are Seaver, Orel, Wood, and Kluber.
Any other starters any of you have success with, feel free to add them to this thread.

I’m not spending over 50k for a starter that doesn’t have a sinker and cutter. Just sayin

Imo there are not enough usable starting pitchers this year. There like 10 that most people use. Whether it is overpowered hitting or underpowered ability to pitch, I wish there were more options to diversify people rotations

I used ryan to decent success though i suspect once people get used to seeing him again he just becomes average

I just picked up 99 Maddux. First RS game this season at AS, but he went 8 innings with 17 K's. Gave up a 2 run HR, but I got greedy throwing too many breaking pitches in a row to a guy who was sitting on them. It was pretty much the only pitch he hung all game. I want to know how he's been at the HOF difficulties though. His 88 seemed very hittable, so that game surprised me.

I like Newhouser and Prestige Oswalt but I am not at the WS level in RS

Mize is pretty good, think Kluber but better. That splitter is devastating. But I agree on spending on pitching, they’re so many offensive options that at this point it really comes down to preference. As for pitching there is a difference between the top guys and the free guys

Honestly, i don't know. I still saying pitching is more about the user than hitting. If you don't know how to pitch, does it really matter who you use. And if you are good at keeping your opponent off balance, then most pitchers are going to be good for you. But then again l, i don't know what i am talking about, since i am not a good enough hitter to make it to the HOF divisions. So i am only talking event's that are on AS.
Speaking of which, i have noticed recently how a lot of guys with WS banners are easier to hit than some scrubs I've played, because they work in the strike zone and try to rely on movement and speed, because that works on HOF, but on AS, with pitch speeds a bit slower and PCI bit bigger, it makes them more hitable. Then i play a guy who throws out of the zone a lot, i find it hard to speed up my bat to hit the FB, because there is no guarantee the ball is going to be in the zone.
Just my 2 cents, again i play way more events than RS.

Yeah my rotation is Kluber, Maddux, Wood, Orel, and 99 POTM Paxton.
I don't see Mize, Sale or Feller as worth those stubs tho. I'm hoping we get Kershaw, DeGrom, Mad Max as bosses or headliners soon. I can't justify paying over 300K for a starter.
Full disclosure: I had Mize for a while, he was really good, but still hung pitches / gave up bombs here and there like any other guy.

The sinker/cutter meta is a drag. I get it, but it's stupid that a starting pitcher isn't as effective unless they have a sinker this year (for the most part), so they wind up giving everyone a sinker. It doesn't make for a very diverse playing field.
The equivalent would be if they gave Nolan Ryan a screwball in 18.

So your thinking is to spend stubs on starting pitching and ended up spending 1M of them on two very average pitchers? Yikes
Feller might be somewhat good with the fastball but everything else is hard to control. Sale is just plain bad vs a good opponent

Just like to throw it out there that 99 Feller has 93 control on the 12-6 and 94 on the slider. Its really only the change up that sucks and I just bury it each time.
You get through the first 2 innings clean he's going to throw 8-9.

Best starting 5 is Kluber mize Maddux leiter Orel.
