I was so annoyed when I finally scrounged up enough Stubs to buy SS Chris Sale last year and come to find out that he's #41 instead of #49, which is what he wore as a member of the White Sox.
Please do not make this same mistake again.

this year's Reggie Jackson card has #9 from his days with the A's instead of his #44 from the Yanks.
Last year SS NY Mets Keith Hernandez had #37 from the Cards instead of his #17 -
