MLB 19—Hitting Slump vs. CPU & Conquest. Advice?
-
(Feel free to move this to general if it fits better there)
Last week, it was like I was slapping the ball all over the place. Base hit after base hit. The whole lineup was doing a conga line around the bases. Part of it was from the fact that I received a wound to my thumb, and the gauze actually helped me get a grip on the left stick.
I would be great even without the gauze though, so I have no idea why I'm in this slump suddenly. I've taken a break from conquest to practice against the CPU (and to help me see the ball, on fields like Baseball City, Majestic Greens, Shippett) but I can't hit then, either. No idea why. If Signature Rickey Henderson goes 0 for 4 on ROOKIE difficulty, then something I'm doing is wrong. Or it's a curse.
I use reticle PCI, zone hitting, and I like to start high and in and follow the ball. I only power swing if I feel really confident and usually if I'm in a hitter's count. What is your best advice in a situation like mine? Thanks!

I sometimes get into the habit of swinging at the first pitch all the time expecting meatballs playing on Rookie/Veteran for missions/moments after regular playing on All-Star regularly. Some days I'm the most patient hitter, other days too aggressive and then in-between - first 3 innings I'm patient and put up a 4-5 spot and then get too aggressive the next couple innings and get quick outs. Are you going through any of that?

Like Catman9186 said you have to be patient. Don't swing at the first two pitches. I try to not swing until I have two strikes on me. I've noticed if you swing at the first pitch 9 out of 10 times it's an out.

If you are to anxious when hitting can cause you to swing at pitches out of the zone or swing to early, You can try to sit on one location, i try to sit on pitches middle of the plate and down I do not hit high pitches to well.

Kinda, yeah. I might get a few runs the first few innings, and really hit around the starter to make him leave in the third inning. And then my bats fall silent, and the only times I’m really able to get on base is from an error or a really cheap single, lol. And then I ground into a double play, haha. Drives me crazy.
I have wheels on the bench to get out of a DP with a steal, but sometimes it’s like the pitcher has psychic powers and pitches out/picks me off.
