Those guys better be careful, more than 15 HR before the trade deadline, they'll be shipped out for a box of pizza and a small pepsi.
Deep dish or thin crust?
Look I am realistic. I hope Villar rakes and we can off load him (he is a FA after the season) for some good prospects like we did with Romo last year. That deal netted us Lewan Diaz, who is considered to be our 1B of the future.
BTW it's 5-0!!!
I hope it's a fun year for you, it's just hard when ownership is doing everything they can to tank the season....every season.
Thanks man.
But even though we have had 4 or 5 fire sales, I have been lucky.
I have seen 2 World Series winners.
I attended a Game 7 of the World Series (1997)
Seen Stanton chase the PED free HR record.
Some fans have never sen thier team win a title, I have twice. We can pick our team, but we can't pick our team owners. Our last owner, Loria, was one of the worst owners in MLB history. But I have faith in the Jeter/Sherman group. We got rid of the bloated contracts and the young players are coming.
Just having Loria out of baseball is a W for the planet.
How that guy was allowed to ruin not one but 2 franchises (the Marlins will recover though) is mind boggling. I agree it's a huge win that he is finally gone.

Yes!!!!
Let him go buy some more artwork.
That guy wrecked two franchises. The reverse Midas touch -

How?
There are alot of moving parts:- Montreal didnt build Loria a stadium
- John Henry wanted out of Miami after he couldn't get a stadium
- With both Boston and Florida Available, MLB pounced.
- Loria sold the Expos to MLB, who already had a buyer lined up in the Lerners
- John Henry sold the Fish to Loria, who believed he could get the govt to build him a stadium
- John Henry being rid of the Marlins bought one of the flagship MLB franchises, The Red Sox.
MLB wanted Henry and Lerner in the fold and were willing to tolerate Loria to get them.
Loria's 1 World Series was pure luck. He fired his first manager (Torborg) and brought in McKeon and the team caught fire. It was lightning in a bottle.Remember Loria was the guy that fired Joe girardi because Joe refused to listen to his advice IN GAME!!!!

Haha i was beign retorical but yes there were obviously reasons he was allowed. My point beign he's scum.

Atlanta isn't used to playing without fans. Marlins are. Advantage Miami

In 3 to four years they might be where the Braves were a year or two ago, that my friend is progress -

Most Marlins thing ever

Most Marlins thing ever
It would have been the most Marlins thing ever if it was a former Marlin hitting the walk off.
The Miami Marlins - the AAAA minor league team for the entire major leagues

In 3 to four years they might be where the Braves were a year or two ago, that my friend is progressWell, they're ranked 5th overall, or around there by most sites.. Braves were the best farm for a few years, and by a lot for a while, with guys like Acuna, who the Marlins have no one like that... They still have a ways to go. Nice arms though

True, but Acuna is a top 5 talent in the MLB.
The other parts are there and the Marlins have been shrewd enough to trade pitching (which they have a surplus of) for top end prospects like Jazz Chisolm and Jesus Sanchez.Considering that the Marlins had a bottom 3 minor league system for years, being top 5 is a major change.
Don't think the Marlins trading young arms for position players is over. All of the Marlins draft picks from this most recent draft were ALL pitchers. I have never heard of a team doing that before.
-
Acuña is being heralded as the next Mike Trout. That guys bat down rookie SP is worth so much [censored] money.

What size pizza though?
Depends on what Jeter likes best. Yelich? GTFOH, Realmuto? GTFOH, I am Derek Jeter just like my MLB career I will be way overated.

Well that's what I'm saying. The Braves have that depth, and lots of it, but they also had top end generational talent like Acuna.
Marlins are lacking that but have put together nice pitching depth. They still have maybe another 2 seasons with great drafts needed to go. Right track though
The Jays, Padres and Rays have that type the Braves have/had... Depth and top end talent.

The only trade I didnt like was Yelich since he was on a team friendly deal.
Trading JT was at worst a tie. The Phillies get one full season of JT plus this abbreviated 60 game stretch.
The Marlins got Jorge Alfaro and Sixto Sanchez. Two pieces to build upon. We were not going to keep JT.Trading Stanton was necessary. While the trade was a PR nightmare, baseball wise it made sense.
After the passing of Jose Fernandez any hope the Marlins had of contending disappeared.
Stanton would have played out the massive contract on a team rocked by the passing of a local hero, and a barren minor league system.
Do you think the Yankees regret the deal now after 2 inconsistent, injury plagued seasons? -

You are 100% correct.
One last nail in Loria's coffin..
Can you believe that the Marlins were the ONLY team not to have an academy in the Dominican Republic until Jeter and Sherman built one? That is inexcusable.

Ya, that is pathetic, especially for a team located in Miami. It's always amazed me how a team with such terrible management history has pulled off 2 incredible underdog championships (especially '03) in their short history...
In comparison, their expansion brother Rockies have had no such luck, and have only come remotely close once..
So many great players have passed through Miami too. Even if it's just for a year, before management boots them out after broken promises
