Mantle Grind

My strategy was to complete it team by team, division by division, league by league, depending on the rewards that I most valued. I would buy the big ticket guys for the team I was targeting and then finish it off with the less expensive cards from that team. I always started with the high priced cards though. Get that out of the way and then completing the rest of the team seems a lot easier.
-
If you don’t have the lower gold and silvers you need to get that cost out of the way. I have at least 39/40 on every team and if I’m missing a card it’s a 90+
-
I’d go after the high diamonds. You probably should’ve been on that about a week ago when prices for live cards were dirt cheap but they’re only gonna get higher as the pack sale is over. Also if a stub sale hits you’re gonna see them get back to crazy prices.
-
Buy high now, I bought Trout last weekend, I just need Verlander and Cole. I had all the other cards done first.
-
Preseason, it was a different strategy. You could buy all the little cards and then save up for the big kahuna.
NOW, you're better off buying the Big card first, then getting all the others immediately after. With Roster Updates coming, you don't want to buy a whole bunch of Bronzes/Commons for a team only to find out in the next update you need to go buy 3 more, all of which are super-inflated.
-
Yelich is really cheap compared to earlier. You get like 5k back from NL central and Brewers collection. I'd get him done now as he wouldnt cost you much at all.
-
Get Verlander done to get Biggio and a ton of stubs, then grab yelich with said stubs. Boom

I bought Trout as well last week for 182k. Pulled Cole from a post-game Conquest pack. Crazy luck finally.

I have the big ones to go. I have some cards to cash in that could net me around 245K. That would leave me short on Arenado, Trout, Bellinger, Cole, and Mad Max.
-
I did the cheaper ones first because it's my XP and I need it now. Plus when you only have a few high-value cards left, it's very clear how many stubs you need, no need to estimate the cost of 37 other cards.

Great point!

Another thing that has me thinking is flipping the Ortiz card. I'm a Sox fan and it's hard for me to sell it. Plus, he's been awesome for me.
-
Yelich and the Brewers are cheap get them now before they get more expensive
-
My approach is this. I have the Dodgers Rockies Mets and Nats left. I have roughly 25ish players in each team already. Obviously need the expensive diamonds. My strategy is to buy the Nats and Mets first as I’ll be able to unlock the NL East diamond player and get some extra stubs and xp. On top of that I’m waiting to do the Dodgers last because Bellinger’s value will only continue to go down due to him already having a POTM 97 rated diamond. I bought the Yankees and Astros sometime last week when Cole was about 100k and Verlander was 80k. Now they're all rising in stock again for whatever reason
-
Yeah. It seems if you are doing these, do what you can to grab the diamonds. They dropped a lot in the past week and seem to be slowly creeping a little back up now.
I was taking my time, using benchmark goals of stubs to complete certain teams. I went all out and bought all the major diamonds this week save bellinger and degrom. Got lucky and packed a scherzer
-
[censored]...do I see Papi to do this thing or keep grinding? That's the conundrum as a Sox fan like myself.

Sounds like he would complete the NL central collection as well so he’s going to get Stargell and Yelich, along with some XP for nearly free

Yesh I pulled a second Aerenado, sold him bought Scherzer, then I pulled Scherzer and bought Trout all within 2 days, I had like 130,000 stubs when I sold Scherzer. It was crazy.

So, I am nearly done with most of the grind. 4 teams left until completion. My question is, should I be buying these low level cards for these teams now or focus collecting the stubs toward the high level guys? I have Verlander, Scherzer, Arenado and Yelich left to get until I get Mantle.
Especially if you haven’t locked anyone in yet, buy em up and lock them. If you have a good # of them, you may just make a few stubs doing it
