Missions "Beat (insert team) CPU on All-Star...." Question

For these do you go to main menu and do a play now game and do you have to play a full 9 innings all that jazz? Or where/how do you set these games up to make sure you are doing it correctly.. I'd hate to sit through a 9 inning cpu game only to find out I fudged it up.

It is in diamond dynasty under extended play on the play tab, then pick play vs cpu and hit r1 twice to get to all star difficulty and scroll to the team you need to play. And you have to play 9 innings.
