check swings

Why are check swings so easy to do for people? I am newer to this game and an older guy. I don't get how someone can be completely fooled by a pitch but get bailed out by rng that is obviously weighted way to low. I had a guy check swing 72 times yesterday and only 3 were called strikes. Has it always been this way? What's the reasoning?

To bail out undisciplined players who would swing too early at every curve in the dirt in years past. SDS didn't want their cash cow to rage quit the show altogether

Use it against them, they are telling you what they are thinking when they do that. If they are constantly early and check swinging on off speed, throw your off speed in the strike zone. Problem fixed. I love it when people do that, easy K's until they adjust (which most of them can't do).

99% of check swings called safe by the umps is not "kind of like real baseball"

It's not even close to real baseball. The percentages of called strikes in mlb is more like 70 to 30 called strikes. Heck i would like for them to make just half of them called strikes. That would eliminate the no skill it takes to shoulder shrug every pitch with no penality.

It's not even close to real baseball. The percentages of called strikes in mlb is more like 70 to 30 called strikes. Heck i would like for them to make just half of them called strikes. That would eliminate the no skill it takes to shoulder shrug every pitch with no penality.

I don’t get the “RNG” argument, either you check swing or you don’t. You either push the swing button fully or you don’t. The problem is the cut scene camera. There is no reason to appeal on 95% of them. Without swing sensitivity hitting would be much worse than what it is.
