Ankiel..oh man I actually went to the bar with him several times in 2002 when the Cards demoted him to their rookie league team where I went to college. He was 'seeing' my girl at the times close friend

He was a hell of a pitching prospect too. He was also the only one I can remember that not only turned it around, but did it with a transition from pitcher to outfielder. Guy was a hell of a ballplayer.

@PeuswahBoy 45 here and have my beer and readers now.

    41 here and have a 2 year old...only child....what did I do?!?

You started too late man. Now you might as well pump out a couple more so they'll entertain themselves down the line.

Yes they sent him 2 the Appy League to refocus and pitch and ended up leading league in HRs....he also was great to go to the bar with he would spend several grand. He would buy the bar out of top shelf. He was actually a [censored] back then cocky 21 yr d with millions major drug and alcohol problems...he changed down the road though .

@RonnieGant1992 now you’re just rubbing salt into old wounds. Lol. I honestly forgot about Avery.

Braves fans in the 90's were like Patriots fans in the last 20 years. Super spoiled. Hahaha.

All this talk has me thinking we need to get an over 40 league going.

I'm in a league 30 teams with 15 to 21 yr olds. They know I'm older but i think they think 1992 is when was born lol

@PeuswahBoy they we’re great. One of the best bullpens. However I remember Glavine, Smoltz, and Maddux making my life miserable for years.

And Avery had the best pure stuff and was considered the Ace b4 he got injured and Maddux. Mazonne talks about it in one of his books how filthy Avery was...wish it coulda been the big 4 instead of three for a decade

Can't forget Wohlers and his inexplicable implosion. Only thing I had seen close to it at that point was Steve Sax not being able to throw the ball to first suddenly.

After that you had Ankiel and Knoblauch. It's crazy to me that suddenly a top caliber pro athlete just suddenly forgets how to do something they've been doing at a high level for the majority of their lives.

I've had a similar experience first hand. I'm a 225ish ave bowler and once during my approach, I led with the wrong foot. I knew something was off, and couldn't figure out how it happened as I had bowled for 20 years.

The next 3 months it was in my head somehow, and i couldn't release the ball correctly since it now affected my mechanics. My ave dropped to 150s. I eventually worked my way through it, and back to my normal ave.

I couldn't understand how things like Knoblauch could possibly happen to professionals, and after that, I now get it. It's pretty crazy what your brain can do to you, even with 20 years of muscle memory.

I’m 43 and love that the 90s seems to be a focus this year...

Jays have Henke, Carter, Molitor...and there are cards of Alomar and Olerud in here too...Id love to see a Devon White card...he’d cover a ton of room in the OF...maybe a Stieb, Hentgen, Ward, Fernandez and Gruber card!

I'm 49 and I will be adding my favorite player from my childhood, Dewey Evens to my outfield, don't care if he is the best or not.

Besides Clemons, Strawberry, Gooden, Schilling, i would also like to see a good Tori Hunter and even a Kirby Puckett. Yes I’m old. Really dislike and I mean really dislike Bonds so he can stay out.

45 and growing up in the 80's it is nice to have these cards. I am a dodger fan so the Orel card love it. Would love if they could get the rights to Koufax. I have been getting better at hitting, learning the pattern of my oponents pitching sequence and have patience. I hit well with Robinson love the 99 and card art. I have finished 2 of the 4 to prestige the Duke.

I'd love to see that 80's Dodger infield of Cey, Russell, Lopes and Garvey. Wouldn't mind seeing Steve Howe, Nando and Pedro Guerrero either.

The moments to get some of these 80's 90's cards bring back memories. Like the Dwight Evans lead off homerun to start the 86 season. remember staying home from school and watching that.

Yep, Even a Sax card, Yeager, Guerrero played for multiple teams that would be a great card. Willie Davis and Maury Wills.

Stieb was in the game not sure what happen to his rights. Him and a few others were 1 year wonders in the show. I would like to see Fisk back in the game.
