@PeuswahBoy they we’re great. One of the best bullpens. However I remember Glavine, Smoltz, and Maddux making my life miserable for years.
And Avery had the best pure stuff and was considered the Ace b4 he got injured and Maddux. Mazonne talks about it in one of his books how filthy Avery was...wish it coulda been the big 4 instead of three for a decade
-
@Mis_Ter_Bulldops and don’t forget Ruth. I know it’s a license issue but so many players from my days are missing that myself and lots of other would love too see. My #1 wish......give me a Roger Clemens and take my money.

Can't forget Wohlers and his inexplicable implosion. Only thing I had seen close to it at that point was Steve Sax not being able to throw the ball to first suddenly.
After that you had Ankiel and Knoblauch. It's crazy to me that suddenly a top caliber pro athlete just suddenly forgets how to do something they've been doing at a high level for the majority of their lives.
-
@RonnieGant1992 now you’re just rubbing salt into old wounds. Lol. I honestly forgot about Avery.

Clemens and Gooden both. I still remember how fired up I was to see that '86 all star game matchup in Houston.
-
@PeuswahBoy Im stretching here but since you said all star game...how about a Bo Jackson with that cannon he had? Wow.

Braves fans in the 90's were like Patriots fans in the last 20 years. Super spoiled. Hahaha.
All this talk has me thinking we need to get an over 40 league going.
-
@PeuswahBoy that would be awesome. Old men with bad eye sight and drink beer. Well I drink beer.

Up 2-0 in 96 WS winning game 3 and then that hung slider 2 Scott Brosius blow/lose game 3...Yanks won the next 3 took it in 6. 1 pitch from being up 3-0 looking for a sweep and back to back WS Champs.
Don't forget th3 Phillies Mitch Williams b4 Wohlers though. After Joe Carter WS walkoff in 93 he lost it.

I'm younger than you fellas but a historian of the game myself, been some great talk this morning.

I drink beer and just started wearing readers! That's the perfect league name: BAR (Beer and Readers) League.
-
@RonnieGant1992 who was the reliever the Braves had that melted down and had the big racial thing back in the day? If I remember he wasn’t bad but kinda ruined his career.

Goddamn punk whippersnappers...lol. 47 here, but I still think of myself as 25. Meanwhile my 15 year old introduced me to Diamond Dynasty last year just so he could destroy me in it, I think.
-
@PeuswahBoy 45 here and have my beer and readers now.

John "Seven Train" Rocker...lol. That guy was public enemy number one in Mets fans eyes.
-
Ankiel..oh man I actually went to the bar with him several times in 2002 when the Cards demoted him to their rookie league team where I went to college. He was 'seeing' my girl at the times close friend
-
Good old John Rocker. That’s who I was looking for.

He was a hell of a pitching prospect too. He was also the only one I can remember that not only turned it around, but did it with a transition from pitcher to outfielder. Guy was a hell of a ballplayer.

You started too late man. Now you might as well pump out a couple more so they'll entertain themselves down the line.
