Are CAP players worth it at this point with the release of the TA 3 players on the market now?

Note I posted this on the Show reddit as well

Some context for this question: I've got an 89 CAP catcher and am grinding out a 85 shortstop. I've got a good amount of diamond equipment so decent enough stats. (Going with power, but I also want speed.)

Now looking at the TA 3 players there's some top shortstops out there, not to mention I already have Larkin. Considering the luxury of players out there 97+ now, is it worth it for any of us now to grind out CAPs - especially considering you can prestige all these TA 3 players?

Obviously Diamond equipment is important to making CAPs usable and competitive choices, but is it enough now to warrant keeping out one of these TA 3 or better players on the market now?

    What are your guys thoughts?

I had a maxed out catcher and he got replaced with biggio and now prestige Posey. my maxed out shortstop will probably never leave the game because he is technically a 99 overall switch-hitting five tool player. It's almost unfair that we can have those in this game. So yes they are totally worth it but I also have probably 40 to 50000 stubs invested in equipment. You can easily put a lightning Didi or correa or stage 3 michael young there but those cards dont compare to the 99 cap. Also the great part about the cap as you can always sell the equipment and just replace the player. You don't have to lock the equipment in.

Probably depends on the position. I’ll take my CAP second baseman over any currently in the game.

CAP can switch hit. They will likely be faster than most TA players. If defense matters to you, CAP is a good choice. BUT... inning programs will leave the CAP less useful by an inning program drops a switch hitting SS/C IMO.

I think so. Even with "better" cards my 89 CAP 2B is the best hitter on my team. He has diamond fielding and is a switch hitter. Rating means nothing, use who you do good with and stick with them.

Adly rutchman and wander Franco Upgrades are coming I think. Adell, mize, Carlson all got top cards so I wouldn’t be surprised to see both get 99s. Adly’s only tool that would be missing is his speed, his current card only has like 50 something speed but that could get upgraded

    I'm thinking a 99 Lux as well

CAP’s will always be worth it. When I look at my CAP, he’s like Mantle with better defense but less speed. Plus I get to choose which swing I want for him

with upgraded equipment those 89s easily become 99s compared to other cards. The face of the car just says 89 because it doesn't take into effect the equipment you add on but in game you can look at the stats and the attributes are easily a 99 rated card. If anything they would be rated higher than 99 if the rating scale went higher.

Anybody who grinds for Mantle and does not use a cap give your head a shake.

I agree... 117 power from both sides and 99 arm strength and accuracy? Yah, I’ll take it.
