5th Inning Showdown
-
I have posted this before. Why when Rivera is zero confidence and zero stamina is he able to hit the black with cutters in? Please answer Victor. What's the point of getting both down. Ended up losing the Showdown when I went early from third on a perfect perfect that was easily caught by Ricky Henderson. Only really good players are beating this consistently. Good players please also tell me how to steal and bunt.
-
I know it's frustrating but stick with it -- what helped me is avoiding left handed batters (just like how righties hit Rivera better in real life!) because the cutter is a lot easier to hit breaking away. Since you know to wear him down, also try not to go into the showdown with less than 10 runs if you're struggling and don't be afraid to bunt to stay out of DPs.
-
Yeah, I am trying down 4-15. Those stupid blue moments are not on Rookie. I can score 15 against Rivera, but I lose 3 out of the 5 first blue moments.
-
Doesnt their confidence effect contact results as well? I always thought that was part of confidence.
-
I would love clarification from Victor. It doesn't seem to do anything. He gets ahead constantly 0-2 with no energy or confidence. That shouldn't happen. Then 0-2 he throws a sinker or a nasty cutter inside. None of those meatballs people on here talk about.

You can also use the meatball glitch on show down. I do need to learn how to steal against the cpu

It's not very hard, but also important in showdown to not take risks unless you have to. Hit and runs are better, since DPs are the true killer in those.
And going mostly righties will help in challenges too, as (I assume bc of Ortiz and Walker) all the pitches besides Rivera are lefties.
Good luck!

Best advice I can give is keep your PCI low in the zone and be patient. I want to say 80-85% of the strikes he threw were down in the zone or near the middle. I ended up not swinging at anything high at all by the end of it. Also, I stole 2nd with 60+ steal and 60+ Speed. His delivery is slow enough that I was never thrown out.
Overall I may be the most impatient batter this game has ever seen (played a 9 inning game with opponent throwing 42 pitches). It is very hard but being patient at the plate is the only way.Best of luck!

You can keep replaying this to farm stubs, xp, and BIAH packs.

You could but you'd be way better off grinding Team Affinity showdowns

How do you steal that easily though
-
Almost every single time I steal there is a noticable delay even while I am spamming the steal button. How do you steal?
-
Only showdown I beat first try. I was down 12-15 going into it. My tips would be to spread your lineup out. I had FOTF Olson hitting 9th and he came up to hit the walk off homer. Also sit middle away with righty’s. Rivera will throw a bunch of pitcher in that part of the zone.

Generally by clicking L2, but you can both hold it down and then release so he runs on your signal; you can also get him going by hitting L1. Take a lead off first (never off second), I've rarely gotten picked. But watch out for pitch outs.

It also seems like you're still learning! Remember Rivera is the hardest Showdown boss BY FAR (tho the showdown itself isn't too bad) -- so keep working on it, and grind divisional showdowns (NL Central the easiest) for TA and practice.
-
I still would like Victor to elucidate on the impact of no stamina and confidence.

It’s an opinion that he is the easiest...

Josh Hader bro. Also no stamina, but isn't Rivera ...

Also one last obvious but useful tip -- make sure you have a speed guy on your bench or even two (look at the commons) for steals, staying out of DPs, or when you need that last run in from third.
