Can be said either way. Who’s going to play Kent over diamond fielding/good speed Sandberg who everyone pretty much already has?
Your exact quote “ How exactly would Kent be more useful? Walker is a 5 tool player. What other 5 tool players are in the game right now?” paraphrased this to mean you think walker would be more valuable than Kent, sorry did I miss interpret this or did you not like that I simplified what you meant? Either way, yes this walker card looks nice but he’s not an endgame outfielder and will at best be a bench bat by the end of the year. And people would play Kent over a diamond fielding/good speed sandberg if his offense is better, just like they do for so many other players like putting Sheffield at 3b. Oh and by the way I believe in the stream they hinted at walker getting another card, so this one might not even be walkers best card in the game, so ya this one should be end game for sure lol

I’m just saying it’s not some clear cut thing that more people would be using Kent than Walker. Kent would be a bench bat. Sandberg would be the better overall card. Middle infield defense is important so the comparison to Sheffield at 3B doesn’t really apply. Plus everyone already has Sandberg. Sheffield and Mantle are super pricey and that Walker card is better than the Griffey and Mays cards that are in the game now. Just don’t see what you’re seeing but everyone can have their own opinion obviously.

The majority of this discussion has been whether walker is an end game card or not, not that he isn’t a good outfielder right now... to me he’s only short game value, no long term upside to him. They even had to try and compare him to other top cards in the outfield to try and show that he has some value. There are way to many outfielders still to come and I’m sure some of them are going to be coming shortly.

Wouldn’t say it would be clear cut but I think Kent would at least compete to be in the lineup at the end of the year, I don’t think walker will be even in the conversation. Your talking about a position with limited offensive output at second base compared to a position with high offensive output in right field that many other high offensive output players will have as their secondary. Just look at where people have their CAPs, SS, 2b, and C. No one creates a CAP outfielder because there’s way too many great outfielders in the game. Not sure why people are so hyped on this walker card. He’s good now but will be phased out quickly, he’s in the first crop of 99s which means there are a lot better options still to come. Not sure why this is even a discussion at this point, it’s just common sense.

I just don’t see him getting a higher card for at least a month or two. Especially with the season starting now. He’ll be a finest or something towards the end of the year.

I guess when I think of an end game player I think of a player that is all around very good/great. Kent isn’t that. That’s why he’d be a bench bat at most for a lot of people. The thing with Walker is you need 3 OFers so it will take longer to filter him out of your lineup. And a lot of people aren’t going to get Mantle so I could definitely see Walker being end game for a lot of people.
Kent wouldn’t pass guys like Finest Jose Ramirez, Prestige Sandberg, 99 Alomar (in the future). He’s just not all around better. He’d be a great guy to have on the bench though.

Yeah he will get a Platinum Glove card later on I guarantee it. We still have a Helton awards card and a potential Trevor Story who could also be a Finest at the end.
