Just out of curiosity, I went back to 16 to compare the stinginess of cpu pitchers.

I was doing the Dietrich moment, the second last one on rookie.

Here are a couple screenshots to compare. The first is vs cpu on rookie 16, the second from said moments in 20, also on rookie.

It's def interesting, a lot more balls down the middle in that example. Though I'd need to probably see multiple examples, one at-bat is a pretty small sample size.

You are 100% right. Rookie used to mean meatballs with a couple balls mixed in that were obvious takes. Now I think the computer pitches mostly the same across all levels, just slower pitch speeds

I started in 17 and rookie was basically at least one meatball every 3 or 4 pitches, almost nothing out of the strike zone.

I did take a number of screenshots for a better sample size. I just picked that Turner at bat because I took more pitches and it was a fairly good example of the rest.

It was also interesting to note that in 16, the pci on rookie is literally the size of the entire strike zone. I think pitch speed was slightly faster.

Are the 16 servers still up? If so, are the 15 servers still up?

Yeah the computer throws 80% balls this year I swear. It’s pretty annoying because if I’m playing computer I’m in grind mode and not exactly up for 8 pitch at bats or having to take 3 to get one to hit. Happens in moments all the time too where you either get walked or loose the ability to get your mission done because a walk might as well be a K

That's exactly what I have been seeing. Noticed something was different from doing early moments. Just frustrating not getting pitches to hit. They screwed this up!

I think it is great for offline franchise players. No more season stats where your team is last in walks. It definitely makes you work in moments and showdowns though.

I mean, I see where they are coming from. The whole “wait for your pitch” and all, but I’m starting to think this has more to do with the hitting than anything else.

I mean, it is also WAY harder to locate your pitches consistently this year. I think there is a connection between so many balls and the all or nothing hitting.

I dont think its any different than it was in 18 or 19 though. 17 was the last year that rookie was batting practice.

Was 18 the year they introduced moments, or was that 19?

It was 19, but I can remember being annoyed in 18 that it was harder to grind on rookie than it was in 17 for that reason.
