Why are Prestige cards tied to Online stats?

Oh sorry I didn't read your entire essay, but if you're not really going to play online then why do you really need to prestige the card

Are you that scared of playing online? Geez, you can rack up stats pretty fast playing event games
How can I use Oswalt in event games? DidI? Hanley?

Fair point, i had the switch hitters in mind

If I played online why would I really need to prestige the card? When you figure out your answer to that question just apply it to my offline play

I been using event to help me with some missions but others most need to occur in ranked seasons. I am unsure if there is another way. I am a 400 player so let’s be honest online really isn’t for me so I get his point,

Useful for conquest and again wish there was more ways to use my team offline. I would play extra innings versus cpu controlled user teams but useless.

That guy seems to be a huge «censored». And yes I censored myself so I can avoid getting banned.

My bad

“Play how you want” unless you just want to Prestige a card, then you have to play exactly how we want you to with absolutely no other options.

I get your complaint, but your reasoning to complain is dumbfounded. Prestige cards are tied to Online stats because that's what the game developers decided to do. What's the point in selling a Ferrari if your gonna sell it for so little that anyone can buy one? Your team doesn't win the World Series, do they deserve the trophy just as much as the team that did win? The accolades that come with it. If you want the best cards in the game go earn them.

Well technically the Ferrari was free but to get it turbocharged you have to work at the Ferrari plant to get it instead of working at your own job

Because offline, you can just abuse the stats and prestige over night.
I like that it’s online only. Makes it more special.
Honestly don’t understand why anyone would even play diamond dynasty if you’re not going to play online.
What’s the point in building a team for offline? There isn’t one.
-
I wouldn’t be opposed if it was at least double and stats had to be accumulated AS or higher, maybe even higher than that...
But I mean it is “prestige” which connotes respect and admiration from a great achievement...so it would make sense that would have to be done through competitive online play and there is no prestige that can come from grinding vs the CPU on lower levels (AS probably being included in a lower level)
-
Diamond dynasty is an online mode that requires an active connection to servers to access.
Requiring online stats to upgrade a card +3 is entirely reasonable IMO.
-
because people would just play the Rockies on rookie mode and literally prestige everyone in one game. not that hard to figure it out.
I don’t like playing offline. and there are plenty of cards i want that I can only get by doing stupid moments or conquest or any of those boring offline modes. do I make a complaint post? no.

yet the Devs have went back to requiring online play to unlock some of the best cards (prestiges) just like in '17.
In order to get Hardware Griffey, you had to win a whole truckload of Ranked games, Event games, BR games, not to mention do that crazy 4 H/1 HR mission which opponents would actively try to sc**w you out of.
And that's not even mentioning all the Pepe Alazar nonsense.
In 20, you have to grind online to get a tweaked version of a card you already have.
These are NOT similar.

So my last post got removed, and probably rightfully so as it was a bit of a bitchfest.....
This does not mean that the core question shouldn't be addressed. SDS streams last year boasted about how you "no longer had to play online as all content can be accessed online or offline" yet the Devs have went back to requiring online play to unlock some of the best cards (prestiges) just like in '17.
I deal with people all day and many times am exhausted, I don't want to come on MLB to relax only to deal with a 14 year old that acts like an 8 year old just so I can work towards a card I want. You've already committed to going towards me being able to relax offline, and pulled the "bait and switch" this year.
@Collin_SDS
Maybe since you have already read this since you're the one that removed the original post you could address it instead of just removing my old post?
P.S. Currently 20-10 in the event, I'm not horrible online, I just rarely enjoy it (unless I've been drinking)
P.P.S. Make the stats needed 3 times what I'd need if I just did it online, just give me an alternative
So I can't stand grinding or playing against cpu. Don't much care for playing other people with their bad connections but have to find stuff to make this enjoyable. That being said, I do think they need this option for people that like to play against the cpu only. However, the stats would need to be grossly adjusted. There would have to be some research done but something around 10x more for offline. Huge difference racking up stats against rookie cpu and all star/hof against real people.

Because playstation wants you to buy the online service on top of your standard internet cost
-
He makes a good point. SDS did say in the streams last year that you would be able to achieve everything on or offline. And I totally understand not wanting to deal with R2 holders, bunt dancers, Game draggers, ect. Unfortunately these types of players seem to be 1/3 to 1/2 of all online players.
