Maybe I'm missing this, but shouldn't you be rewarded more TA points if you win the WS with a long shot vs a contender? Keeping them on the same point scale seems a bit unfair.

The point system stays the say the team category impacts the points for example on All Star you are using the Yankess and you finish the 1st half in 2nd 1 game back you may get half the possiable points. Now late change it to Pittsburgh and you finish the 1st half in 2nd 1 game back good chance you get all the points.

Ahhh. So if I'm reading that right you might be rewarded the same amount of points finishing the first half in 2nd with the Marlins vs finishing 1st with the Yanks? That's fair then. I didn't realize that.

I am really enjoying MTO this year and the segment point break down was a great choice y them

I got bored with MTO after 3 runs through but have gone back to it. Currently in a Yankees run, had my division locked up by August, set the wins record in early September, so I only had one game to play all of September.
It does get a little tedious at times. But I can play that for a while and walk away and not feel the same frustration level or wasted time if I did showdown or played a ranked game.
That’s the biggest thing for me. I can shut off the game and was away feeling good about my time.

Yeah, I hear you there. More and more, I want to at least be able to shut the game off and feel good about the time I spent. Online just makes me frustrated. So, I think I'm enjoying MTO more lately for that reason. I can play for an hour or so and leave in a good mood. Have my playoffs for the Yankees left and think I might try Nationals next.
I have 3 team affinities completely done up to 120 (Rockies, Twins and Padres) and have Rangers up to like 95 percent. I wanted Torres and I think I want Soto next (or maybe Angels for Ohtani. I like MTO for getting these FOTF guys. I've got most teams (through collections, missions, innings) up to 15-25 percent. So doing one MTO run gets me solidly into the middle of Stage 2. I dont have any great desire to rush and finish up the Future Stars guys. Not sure I'll be able to stand doing 30 MTO runs, but I'll do what I can there.
One person mentioned doing MTO for the East and West divisions and doing Showdown for the Central ones, since those are a bit easier than the East and West. I liked that idea, but tried a showdown run yesterday and lost focus halfway through and lost at a miniboss. Again, a frustrating circumstance because I feel it's time wasted.
So, MTO for feeling good, at least, even if the affinity points don't accumulate quite as fast. Wish there were more points given so I could get closer to 120 with a single run.

I don't think I've ever not gotten the full points at each stage for an MTO run. I've always gotten the max each time while playing on veteran. Won the World Series with Rockies, Twins, Padres and Rangers. Absolutely destroyed the CPU with the Yankees so far. I didn't even accept any trades during my Yankees run because it was going so well and I was doing good with all the regular players.

As mentioned before here, too, the run goes faster the fewer trades you accept (because you usually have to play a player-lock game with that player). Also, I've set my settings to have a faster broadcast style and have done auto baserunning and fielding for player-lock moments, so I'm only hitting (or pitching) in those moments. There's a few minor tweaks here and there you can make to make them go a little bit quicker. I haven't timed myself to see how long each one takes. @MathMan5072 had done some work in that regard.
I'm not sure if it's still playing at the same time level as he had mentioned. It does seem like I have to play out more games in the past two runs I've done than I did the first couple. Not sure if they altered that behind the scenes to make it go longer. I'd be curious to see if anyone else has timed any recent runs and if they're also seeing a few more games and more time to finish lately.
I want to see how time equates to average affinity points, but I'm too lazy. I mean, if you struggle with showdown, but still finish, 2 out of 4, is the time there equal/more/less than it is to do an MTO run. What is the point per time for MTO and showdown. But again, I haven't put that much effort into figuring it out (and I need to calculate my time with a few missed showdown runs as part of it).

I think with the longshot team you play way more early on cause its taken me way longer to get to the All Star break with the Pirates then it did with the Dodgers. Not complaining just an observation and in this case it's ok case PNC Park is just beautiful to look at in digital form as it is real life

It's a good point I think it also breaks down to your goal in the game is. Of you are someone who wants every card in the game right now Showdown is your best option if you are someone who like the slow grind and get thinks as they come them a mix of both is best.
For myself I have taken a much slower approach to this year and just chip away at differnt aspects of the game and have way more enjoyment because of it so MTO is great cause I can just play single player and still make good progress then jump into events.

Thanks to @bhall09 for the shout out. I have been keeping track of all of my runs. I’ve posted about 6 or so of them in another thread, and I’ve got another 3 that I haven’t completed because I don’t want to waste team affinity. But, in all of them it’s been pretty consistent: around 20 interactions before all star break and about 12-15 after. There maybe one here or there that goes a little shorter or longer.

Another observation that I’ve noticed but haven’t tracked... I think the lower ranked teams get put in more situations where they are down early in the year. But, I think that’s a good thing. Since, they lose a lot of their simmed games early in the year, you need the fire icons for coming from behind.
In the end, though, it does appear that the winning, losing, tied encounters are the same no matter what type of team. I have tracked that, and by the time the season is over, it seems to even out. I just feel like the losing ones are frontloaded when you are a lower team.
Maybe I’ll start tracking that.

Yup same here. It's a nice change of pace if I don't want to increase my blood pressure. Plus I think the concept is kind of cool. I just wish they gave more roster management options. Marlins have a ton of young talent I'd like to call up.

Yep I don't mind the slow grind. I needed a break from the event and didn't want to just hop into ranked so I decided to grind for Jazz. I like Showdowns also, but the NL East one is just a bear for me. I cruised through all the other ones but for some reason this one is just the bane of my existence. Always seem to have stupid things happen to me or don't get rewarded for getting the PCI/timing right.

I'm playing on All Star and cruising through. First place in the NL East by a lot. Added Colin Pache for a lefty reliever (because the Marlins have really, really bad options there) and had the chance to add Kluber. I don't plan on continuing this into a franchise so I could careless about selling off the high potential talents (which they have a boatload of) when offered a stud to make a run at the WS.
I have a soft spot for the Marlins anyway. When I was in high school my baseball team used to do a week of spring training at Bucky Dent baseball camp in Del Ray. We'd go see 1 or 2 Marlins games every year when the still played at Pro Player. You could basically sit anywhere you wanted during their lean times.

I can relate to your sentiment. I started playing ranked season games for the first time ever in TS19 at the end of March, just to get the final trophy (make championship series). My first game I easily lost because we were tied 0-0 in the 3rd and I pinch hit my starter thinking they were 3 inning games, oops. Irrelevant but just highlighting my ranked seasons inexperience. Quickly got up to around 678 then went on a massive slide. Never hated the game experience so much in 12 years, but kept going back because my goal was wins.
My point aligns with yours. I was wasting hours on a crappy experience which frustrated the hell out of me just so I could get some virtual trophy. I’ll probably try again a few times this year but walking away is a lot easier when I remind myself that the prize I’m aiming for is fun, not a card or trophy or some ranking that doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. It’s just a game.

One thing that changed recently was that you used to get innings played for the team you were using toward the 250 inning mission, which would earn you +5 team affinity (repeatable). This would help me get TA’s done sooner, but I guess they realized and changed that. Not sure why.
