It's user preference really. Making the stick higher will increase your range of motion which does make you more precise with fine movements in the middle area of the zone, but there is a trade off in reaching the corners fast like on an up and in fastball.
More factors play a role, like the size of your hands and thumb and the shape of the thumbstick. Only way to really find out is just try several ones and see what works best for you.

For the price I would say yes. Got a couple recently to just try them out and if for nothing else the wider base it gives has been helpful.

They can take some getting use to, but I haven’t had any drawbacks so far.

I have big hands and I am wondering if I should buy a big bigger PS4 controller like a Pictek controller to see further improvements in my game. Any opinions on the subject are welcome. I’m already using Kontrolfreeks btw.

I used to go with the high rises and it was good for hitting pitches within the middle area of the zone but it was difficult to reach the corners fast enough. I would definitely recommend the mid rises as they give you a more precise range of motion as well as let you reach the corners quickly.

I don't have too much experience with those types of controllers so I can't help much there.
