    I don’t understand why past players don’t have active quirks. Anyone agree ?

    It’s so that live series players maintain usability.

    Yeah the quirks on the non-live cards are all of the ones that are just for looks and mean they have X at whatever stat.

    Yes and no. Passive quirks let you know they meet a certain ratings threshold. They don't actively adjust anything in game though. But I live series player with Dead Red, will have better results with good swings on fastballs, etc. They actually do alter things in game.
