The state of the game- hitting issues (rant)
-
Welcome ba-
Oh. Goodbye
-
I believe these problems with the game are a result of too much simulation. Everything feels like a dice roll. When you do everything right but the dice don’t roll in your favor, frustration ensues.
This game influences outcomes waaaay too much through the simulation aspect. It’s due to player retention and unfortunately that’s the world of gaming these days, especially games with micro transactions.
-
This is an example of player non-retention.
Mitch will be missed. It says a lot about the state of the game when those making consistently good input abandon it.
-
Surprised to hear you’re stepping away but, at the same time not surprised to be reading this. Shame because you’re a really good player. I’m not nearly the same caliber of player you are but, I fully understand & agree with where you’re at with the game. After the last patch, I’m not very enticed to play anymore. Wish ya well man.

I used to frequently post, but haven’t been around here much at all lately. I have played this game a lot the past few years. There have been several times I’ve decided to quit the game, only to come back later because honestly the game can be addicting. Each year , I have been hopeful that the gameplay will improve. However, every year there are glaring issues that ruin gameplay, especially with the hitting.
These issues have stemmed from mlb 17 when ball physics was added. The obvious hitting issues from each year are:
17- late hits
18- extremely slow pitch speeds, early hits rewarded too much, balls in middle of pci resulting in pop ups
19- lineouts, bad exit velos on perfect pci
20- good/okay and good/good on perfect pciEach year, I lose enthusiasm to play. And I’m at the end of the line here. The game just frustrates me too much, it’s not worth playing imo.
I have met a lot of cool people in this community and on here, which I am thankful for. Ik a lot of people don’t like these posts about people announcing their departure, so I’m sorry if you’re one of those people. Since I’ve been on here a lot in the past, I wanted to let everyone know what’s going on and why I won’t be here anymore. I wish everyone the best.
I might be back some day if SDS manages to fix the issues and improve the game, which I doubt will ever happen, but until then, so long.
Shame to see you go Mitch, but understandable with your reasoning. I'm still playing (mainly BR, only about 20 RS games) but I find myself doing the same as what you describe. The fire just isn't there anymore and I play less and less competitively each year for those reasons as well. Went from playing hundreds of RS games every year to playing maybe 100 in the ENTIRE year. The frustration just outweighs the fun and joy.
Hopefully next year will be the turning point and we'll see you back. Good luck man. -
Sad to see you go, Mitch. You are one hell of a player. This is unfortunate in so many ways. There are so many names that I no longer see on the leaderboards, or this forum.
SDS have gradually driven the gameplay into the ground whilst at the same time driving up profits. It's quite a remarkable feat, tbh.
I play, but my hours played have dropped for three consecutive years. SDS need to step back and realise that shiny cards don't make this game enjoyable, gameplay does. As it is now, everyone just might as well start using classic pitching and hitting directional. The results wouldn't vary that much I wouldn't imagine.

[censored] people. Y'all let me down. Can't believe I have to be the one to do this...
Bye Felicia!

I quit in june last year because of how mad the game made me feel when I played, i'll probably do the same this year has the gameplay isn't much better when you play at a higher level.
This game can't be taking too seriously, which sucks because it has so much potential.

Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya
-
He’s telling the truth good ok good good dead center pci not rewarded Is no fun
-
It is trending the wrong way fast. I played and spent so much time online in the past and this year 11, yes I’ve played 11 ranked season games total since opening day. Not enjoying online play at all this year.
-
He is totally correct this game has become an online APBA or stratomatic game where you roll the dice, but with horrible programmers to boot.
-
I deleted the game a week ago, I'm not missing it. There is so much content on the ps4, it freed up time to go back and finish/replay other games I have in the library.
-
It sucks that I haven’t played the game through the complete cycle since 17. Quit 18 really early, quit 19 around September, and not sure if I’ll make it all the way this year. I just wish we had this content with the hitter/pitcher gameplay of 16. The good/okay, good/good, and now good/popped has become really annoying.

I fear the best analogy here is ball physics and the hitting engine has been like trying to drop a V8 in a Honda CRX.
There has been no consistency between 17-20. Each iteration has had it's own warts and it's been a new issue every year.
-
I get frustrated in the games I hit perfect/perfect 10 times and my opponent doesn't do it once and I still get out hit.... That's aggravating.
-
With RS this year, usually I get as far as upgrading my lineup and pitching rotation, adding new players who I’ve unlocked. Then I go play something else.
