It is called "Impossible" and only applies to the Final Showdown. I understand that the majority of you have no issues here. In my case, I cruise into Final Showdown with 10-12 runs and the perfect perks (e.g. diamond heart attack and the 2-strike focus).
I am patient, working the count only to see pitches that dot the lower corners with a sliver of the strike zone for a strike call. Diving catches are the norm and perfect-perfect contact turns into routine line outs and solidly hit double plays.
I do really like the Showdown concept but we need an option to replay the final with our current progress intact. Oh well, SDS does have a sense of humor.

Yep, I was beating the AL East pretty regularly, and then all of a sudden, I cant beat any moment that is related to hitting. Weak contact when I hit the ball and like you said Pitchers painting the black and multiple driving catches. Had Meadows catch two balls on the dive in one go round. He is the worst fielder of the TB OF and he looked like a gold glover. No clue why each time I play SD I dont know what I am going to get. I have 9 teams still at Stage 1, it's a long grind to finally be done with that first set of SDs.

Havent beat a showdown yet!! I work the count and every final boss i get to every pitch i make contact with is a line out or popout! Ill maybe get one hit!! I cant figure it out!

Stage 2 is much easier than Stage 1. I've completed Stage 2 at least 12 times between the AL and NL and probably only failed twice. Stage one on the other hand I think I only beat the NL Central once. The AL East once and I think that's it. Had to have tried at least 30 times too.

In the Uncharted series, the highest difficulty is called 'Brutal.' In RE7 it's 'Madhouse.' Outlast 2 has 'Nightmare,' and 'Insane.'
You get where i'm going. Showdown difficulty is all of the above, lol. -
I am 1-1 on the NL showdown but 0-25+ in the division showdowns. These are awful. I take particular issue with it because so many players were able to complete TA when MTO was offering double points so they didn't have to play showdowns. Many of us never knew MTO was offering double points, so we got screwed.

I consider perfect perks to be the diamond one for inside, outside, and down the middle pitches cause where else are the gonna throw it
-
Heart attack, inner peace , velocity perks are my go too

If you play a lot of showdown, you might notice the sound that plays when the game displays your active quirks during an AB. I hear that exact same sound sometimes in RS play and I can’t help but wonder if there’s some invisible quirk activated. It’s pure conspiracy of course, with no solid proof, but I feel like “makes weaker contact in 0-0 counts” and similar showdown quirks would explain a lot in RS play.

It sucks because Mto giving double points was a glitch so only a YouTuber making a comment about it was how I found out. Shortly after they fixed it. I would like it to permanently be double points because other than that period Mto seemed like a waste.

I had a rough one yesterday in the NL stage 2. Was cruising, had a lineup I liked, had decent perks early on, hadn’t lost a challenge entering stage two boss John Smoltz. Needed 3 runs in 15 outs, start with a runner on second. Easy peasy until it wasn’t.
Ozzie leadoff infield single, runners at 1st and 3rd still 15 outs.
Ozzie steals second, runners 2nd and 3rd still 15 outs.
Jeff McNeil single, 2 runs score, Score is tied, still 15 outs.
Cody Bellinger Lined out to first Double Play. 13 outs
Then went 0 for 13 and Failed... -
