- The hitting is wildly inconsistent, which does hint towards RNG. Too many good swings with balls down the middle that are pops, what determines this?
- Pitching seems to use that same RNG for the most part, when the AI wants to come back in a game your pitcher just loses all control until you place one close to the middle where they can blast it no matter who's hitting
- Server errors, too many. I had to delete and reinstall the game twice

This game has been good so far. There are just so many negative people in the community that expect the game to be perfect. The content is better, gameplay may be worse but it's not as bad as people make it seems like. My main problems: Pack luck is rigged for me, good-okay fly balls, good goods aren't good, and fielding (which has gotten better). Content has been out of this world amazing. New headliners TWICE a week. Prospects and future stars. Not only signature series card! Sick card art! I think this game hasn't been bad. The miserable people in the community that grind the game 24/7 want it to be perfect because this game is the center of their lives.
-
I don't expect perfect, I expect at least on par with last years game.

Nobody seems to ever want to talk about how to improve the game. You have great players that want more user input, lesser players that want slower pitch speeds, and NOBODY in the middle saying “why don’t we slower pitch speeds, increase user input and adjust the PCI size until SDS gets the data numbers they want”
They are never going to be able to please everyone. They tell us they want realistic numbers, but that's just not possible. If you tune it to keep the top players numbers down, you have everyone else hitting .200, not realistic. If you tune it to help the bad players then the top players hit .500. At the end of the day top players are going to score 10 runs a game regardless, bad players are going to get lit up regardless.
They should be tuning the game to the average player, the guy that sits between 600 and 800 on RS. Thats where the vast majority of online players sit.
Many, many issues with this game are connection related. This includes the ridiculous averages that these top players have. You want to level out the playing field? Put in ping indicators and ping based match making and these top players will not be hitting .400. I will tell you a big difference between a top player and quite a few other players.
Most people have the games where 100 looks like 120 and sometimes it looks like 90. What if almost every game you played looked like 90? Do you think your average and record would be much better? Of course it would. Welcome to the world of the top players. Everyone says top players are always top players. Of course they are, they never change their internet and SDS continues to use the same out dated things for match making. Have pitching_rebel move to Kansas City and get a wired fiber connection. I will not say he wouldn't be good because he would but I would bet my house he wouldn't have a 150-8 record (or whatever the hell it is). How good would your record be almost every game you played was one where 100 looked like 90? I know mine would.
Some people won't know what I am talking about since their game appears the same every time. People that see the 120 mph fastballs know exactly what I'm talking about.
-
I'm actually on board with that to an extent. Its pretty clear to me its a connection/latency issue. I'm tired of having to swing the bat before I know what pitch is coming just to have a chance of being very late on a 95mph fastball.

It random not really a game of skill. That’s probably why the gameplay gets a lot of slack.
Enjoy DD while you can. I bet it doesn’t last past 2021. With their packs the way they are they don’t make enough money survive the unethical business practices lawsuits theyll be hit with. Maybe they’ll keep road to the show and franchise. Maybe.
Lawsuits? Lol. Smoke more crack dude.

The writing is on the wall. It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when. I just call it like I see it. I don’t really debate people online because in the age of the internet you end up arguing with someone who works at Walmart or McDonalds who all of a sudden is an expert about something they know nothing about.

The Simulation seems to take over the game.
The RNG is frustrating.
What is RNG?
Random number generator. Like a slot machine. It’s the hitting system in place.
Do people use that abbreviation as a joke to mock SDS or do we know that this is actually the hitting system in place?
All video games run on random number generation. It's the equation that decides what outcomes will happen. Basically when you swing at a pitch it's like pulling lottery balls, they throw in hitter stats with pitcher stats, and what you pull out is what happens.
There are definitely issues with RNG in this game, some people accept it, while others blame it for all their problems.
That’s why the crybabies post their complaints, to help SDS fix the issues. If we all just accepted the game as is every year, there wouldn’t be much incentive for SDS to put out something better.
Its not really an issue though. The game is going to have RNG. This game is chalk full of real issues, bad players on all star hitting the occasional home run with less than perfect pci placement is sooooo far down the list.
I'm fine with people bringing it up, just not over and over again whenever they lose a game.
The way the RNG is used in this game is quite stupid though.
Input and ratings can work hand in hand. But the way they have this game designed, they work against each other. No one thinks we should be able to paint corners with Michael Kopech all day. Ratings should effect the pitching meter and make it harder to get perfect releases, but perfect should be perfect every single time.
When your kicking a field goal in madden, does a bad kicker just shank perfect kicks on the meter? No, the meter is just extremely hard to hit.
When your shooting a 3 in 2k, does a perfect green release just randomly airball? No the shot meter is just harder to hit based on the players ratings.
This **** is fairly elementary. Attributes should impact the process, not just manipulate outcomes.

And I'm saying people hitting home runs on less than perfect contact is like, 10th down the list of actual problems.

Playing online, there is hardly any skill involved/needed. What’s the point of pci and perfect pitch releases if the ball is thrown down the middle and if you can hit homeruns on pitches where the pci isn’t even on it. Yet you can get perfect perfect fly outs all the time. It’s not fun playing a game where you have no control over it
I played yesterday hit a perfect/perfect with a right hander and was a Warner track fly out to right center. I looked at the pitch and was low and away fast ball. Now many batters have opposite field power. So even though it was perfect/ perfect was was a perfect hit for that pitch and location. Not every hit can be a home run. No need to complain all the time just have fun with the game.
I would like to interject. I had 3 perfect perfect fly balls today with Mantle, Trout, and Gorman; they were all pitches that missed down the middle (opponent probably had a perfect release too lmao) and they were all under 93mph off the bat. (& before any justifications are attempted to wide with SDS, I used “X” to swing, not circle) Guys with over 100 power swinging and hitting a perfect perfect fly ball and they don’t even go over 93mph??? How does that make sense. Ruins momentum in a game and ruins the fun of placing PCI ESPECIALLY on HOF and Legend. This years game is one of the worst I’ve ever played personally due to horrible pitching outcomes, horrible hits when hitting perfect perfect, and ridiculous/unrealistic fielding animations along with constant dinkers and swinging hints that are hits. Not playing this game until next patch which is disappointing because I have played DD ever since MLB the Show 2012. Those who play are tolerating the BS or they are the ones getting the lucky hits and getting saved from their opponents perfect perfects being outs 80% of the time.

DANG! I've written tons and tons of reasons the online play of this game is disappointing at best. Novel-like posts. This guy is able to capture the essence of it all in 4 sentences. SUCCINCT, my brother.

Look at what you listed as your issues. One, you should not being opening packs because they are actually a scam (this is a personal issue). Two, if I square a ball up and it’s a perfect perfect, it should be a hit 80% of the time as it seems it is an out 80% of the time. I made WS the past two seasons. The horrible fielding animations that still aren’t fixed. Horrible pitches when it’s a good/perfect feedback. Lack of consistency are the issues. We have hundreds of hours of perfect perfect outs, and hundreds of hours of swinging bunts/weak contact for hits. That is not realistic. If I have someone off balance, yeah sometimes there is luck and they get a hit in real life but the majority of the time in the game, it’s almost always a hit. Yet I have a perfect perfect or they have one, and it’s out? This game has perks like content but you are missing the picture along with everyone else. They put this content out to encourage people to buy stubs and open packs and to keep the game relevant because if they didn’t have this content, the game would lose millions of players with a couple of months due to how horrible the gameplay is. I can guarantee that.

Just understand, the only reason you BELIEVE you have a perfect/perfect is that's what the AI feedback is depicting. In reality you may have missed the pitch by a couple inches. The pitch you were "very late" on or "rolled over" may have been the one you actually squared up on as far as when/where you initiated your controller placement.
When the AI does declare a perfect/perfect it just wraps it with a loud "whack" through your speaker and shows a 90-120 mph exit.
It's an animation. All determined by the AI with very little respect to you or your opponent's controller input.
Physics (real life results) are pretty much absent from the MLB the Hit Show experience.
