I honestly don't know what's worse, the fact that this is possible or the fact that are actually people defending this occurence. If I would hit a bomb on a pitch this high, I'd be the first to call BS and apologize to my opponent.
Well now maybe you understand why people get annoyed by your defending of things that are quite obviously a problem.
That's where you're wrong in my opinion. Showdowns are not a problem, they work as intended. They provide a challenge with some low risk/high reward stuff. And I'll explain it again, that post was NOT to bash people who criticize showdown. It was to call out those who want everything nerfed to hell so they can have their own participation trophy and join the parade.
This is something completely different. I wonder how many people in this thread have actually got a clue how many far reaching effects this occurence has on the way we play this game:
Pitching is already hard enough as it is, where you'll throw meatballs on good releases. That's whatever, won't be fixed I assume so I accept that for what it is. But the whole idea of baseball from a pitcher's perspective is to read what opponent is looking for and what he struggles against. A good player in this game, which I am and have been for years, is able to read opponents in this matter relatively quickly. If you can then execute, whether it's hitting or pitching, you're most likely gonna win.
I read my opponent, I knew he was gonna swing at this and that's exactly what I wanted. I executed the pitch, that location if perfect. I don't care what anybody says about real life baseball or how high the strike zone is or whatever other argument you can come up with. That pitch is almost an extra quadrant higher than the top of the strike zone. It was a well executed pitch. And my opponent did what I expected and wanted him to do; he swung at it.And here comes the conclusion: I executed perfectly, both the location and the assumption he would swing, and he should be penalized for being outplayed/outsmarted by me in this "mini game within the game". For making him chase a horrible pitch. Instead he gets rewarded with a 2 run homer. THAT is the real issue here.
This was a rare occasion you got burned, that kind of stuff happens especially in BR. Hits IRL aren't regulated to the strikezone, so why would the game.
Here's what had become clear though every time you make a post of an opinion you become a [censored]. Anyone who dares post a contradictory opinion from yours gets condescending remarks from you. You find every single one and respond with tales of your superior skill and intellect. There's just no way you couldnt be right...
Here's a thought for you Mr. Stick God. If you had any actual baseball sense you wouldn't be attempting to throw a fastball up in the zone with Darren O'Day in a tie game. That is his lowest rated pitch for starters. Second and most importantly his pitching motion makes a fastball travel a completely opposite trajectory. Going low to high would make his fastball easier to get on especially considering his average velocity.
Please add me to the block list too when you're finished with your snarky response. It sounds like they are having a sweet party over there

It's actually not eye level, though by the rule book it should be. top of the strike zone is just above the belly button, which is accurate to real life, from the rule book it should be the bottom of arm pits but hasn't been that in over 20years.
Going by just above belly button - I estimate that pitch to be bottom of the collar bone.
Nipples to Knees is the Strikezone.
In the rulebook yes, but in MLB the top of the zone is much closer to the belt

Yes I'm wrong in YOUR opinion...just like people in this thread are saying YOUR wrong in their opinion. Thus making me right on what I stated.
It's completely different because you are the one being burnt this time.

I gave you a perfectly logical reason why this happened to you and instead you continue to cry foul and only answer back to the people that attacked you or defended the game. You ask a question but it’s obvious you don’t want intelligent answers and are just here to moan and complain. No sympathy at all for you and I hope it happens again

Apologies, I missed your comment initially as there is so much stuff going on here. Out of all the arguments made, yours does make the most sense. I still find it unacceptable that this is being rewarded for reasons I mentioned earlier, but that's my opinion and it's okay to disagree with that.
Shame you have to end on such a hateful note, I had no bad intentions towards you whatsoever.

The most power can be generated from pulling a high pitch, so I can believe it.
Please. That ball was at eye level, probably even higher. Have you ever swung a bat in real life? No way you're generating power THAT high my guy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlFoVneMBFo
And the pitcher gets a hit! This is about the shoulder level, so yeah it happens!
This is to the girls who cant get power on eye level swings. Learn how to manipulate a swing. Players do it at all levels.

Why though? You don't speak for the community. You don't speak for everyone on this forum. Maybe a handful of guys agree with you, and even then, what makes you think you have to hold this against me and be their spokesperson towards me? I'm not bashing you after every nonsensical comment you place here, do I? Get off my back man.

Apology accepted and all I ask is logic win over chaos. I know that’s asking a lot for a forum but I have faith in yall lol. At first you choose to address only the chaos and that’s why I said what I said. Continue this trend of replying to the logical and well thought out replies to your questions and we will be all good. Take care and may the rng gods look over you.

A highlight real video could've saved this post. The screenshot only shows the pitch was around chest or numbers area. Strike zone is only 2 feet high in RL. (I may be wrong, I'm only certified to umpire LLWS)

The strike zone is from the letters to the knees. There's a visual box before you throw a pitch. You can argue all day about whether it should be possible to hit a HR or not, but I struggle to see the argument that this pitch wasn't at least neck level.

It would have been neck level IF it made it to the strikezone but it didn’t. It was contacted early in the swing and coming from a submariner who throws from his ankles, that means the ball most likely made contact with the bat only a few inches above the strikezone. Not where the white dot indicates.
-
FB at the letters, they get hit all the time. Sorry you lost the game though.

The strike zone is not defined at the letters to the knees. The official top of the zone is the midway point between the batter's shoulders and the top of his pants. It's determined by the hitter's stance as well, so if a player is crouched it does lower the zone.
The in game strikezone box changes hitter to hitter. It's impossible to have a good idea without knowing who hit the ball.
-
Here's a link to the game Gleybar Torres
I named it Gleybar Torres because that's who hit the ball. It also wasn't the first batter O'Day faced. He got two outs then gave up a double then the HR.
"O'Day pitching. Pederson grounded out to DeJong (6-3). Contreras grounded out to Bryant (5-3). Tellez pinch hit for Leclerc. Minter in bullpen. Tellez doubled to center. Reyes pinch runs for Tellez. Torres homered to left (387 feet). Reyes scores.*"
Knowing the power of either Torres card who is a top dot dominant hitter I can see how a high fastball middle of the plate from O'Day got hit for a HR.
Move along folks nothing to see here...

The absolute highest an MLB umpire will call a strike is 2 balls above the belt, this ball is letter high.
